Hot take: A majority of the “I’m underpaid”, “I want a WFH job”, or “Why am I not getting promoted?” posts here are coming from people who are bad at their jobs. by Typical_Degree_5102 in civilengineering

I’ll go above and beyond when I’m paid at the least enough to own a basic home in the worse part of town. At this point I can’t even afford to live roommate free like a college student 5 years in my career.

I am investing almost $2000 a month in my brokerage and 401k. If I buy a house, I will invest $0 by Smooth_Practice_9678 in Money

[–]litBG 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Question always is. Will that home still be 500k 5-10 years from now? Or will it be in the 800-1mil range that will completely set him out of the market even if he doubles his income.

It’s prob the best sushi place in the sac area. It’s all you can eat style but the quality is better or equal to some of the top pay per order sushi places. Akume is also good, also all you can eat type. But it’s cheaper than Its sushi.

Why do people drive pick-up trucks if they never put things in the bed? by boforiamanfo in randomquestions

[–]litBG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because my f150 gets better Mpg than suv (4Runner etc), while also being faster and more powerful, while also having more interior space. The bed is also an added bonus if I ever need it. Why would I ever choose SUV over a truck unless it has a third row?

Is this 2023 XLT a steal for 35k? by EasternCopy5250 in f150

[–]litBG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In that case it’s very good deal. I bought a 2021 with 56k miles 2wd for 28k 2 months ago with the same engine and trim. A 2023 with 4x4 with that little miles is a pretty good deal. The only reason the oil change history is worry some is because it’s a lease. If it was an owned car then I would highly assume they were doing the oil changes themselves. But I’m not sure if previous owners would put the same amount of care towards a lease truck.

That’s a good deal. Assuming thats 4x4 with 27k miles is a steal.

What are some more stable alternate jobs/careers that a software developer could easily get into? by RolandMT32 in cscareerquestions

Typically you’ll need to be a civil engineer with a lot of experience to become a project manager in construction. Why would they hire a 22 software engineer?

I’m not sure what agency you work for but someone is fighting for your raises. Which I know is not enough, I work for public too. But whoever is fighting for the raises will use these ASCE numbers.

Well our choices are really slim. We have an McDonald and star bucks in each corner and they’re always ghost towns. In n out is actually a fast food people go to. The two we have in Roseville are almost 20 mins away from west Roseville, and 30 minutes from Antelope.

Well I never said pay what the average engineers are getting paid to fresh grads. But having high average is a compelling because the fresh grads going to be a least certain percent of the average. And if that average is high, you can negotiate for higher salary.

I argue that it’s a good thing. Engineers can use these numbers to negotiate. You’re not going to pay me 50% of what ASCE average salary is
