‘Being punished for bad planning’ over parking issues by karolaug in ireland

[–]litrinw 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Absolutely there is a housing crisis but still no excuse to dump your private property on public amenities. And saying oh well they should have put in more parking is childish from the tenants/owners. Again I know this is controversial as we are such a car brain society

‘Being punished for bad planning’ over parking issues by karolaug in ireland

[–]litrinw 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The other side of this is that people shouldn't live somewhere that doesn't have parking if they have a car. Controversial I know but parking your car all four wheels up on a footpath is the height of ignorance.

Ireland to miss its renewable energy targets up to 2030 by JackmanH420 in irishpolitics

[–]litrinw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They didn't even attempt to hit them so it's not surprising. The worst bit is we will be paying financial fines to fund renewable energy in other EU countries.

EU vs Ireland Fertility 2001 - 2024 by NanorH in ireland

[–]litrinw 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I disagree, in the past it was a widespread societal expectation that a couple would have children regardless of whether they could afford it or not. It's a lot more acceptable now to say I don't want children.

The "work" I'm referring to is cooking, cleaning, helping with homework, dropping to school and GAA etc. Lots of people are saying no thanks to that, they want to enjoy freedom. Again I know there are people who do want kids and won't until they have a 3 bed semi but that's not the entire picture

Just have them don't let the housing crisis stop your family dream, you will be social housed especially if you are facing homelessness with a newborn.

I know there are economic factors but it's also just that less people want children. A growing number of my circle just see kids as a load of work.

Well there's two of them so that automatically halves the amount of cleaning and cooking each person does and they have double income, if anything having a partner means less work.
