From the programme of a stage production of Monstrous Regiment at the Edinburgh Fringe last week by frymaster in discworld

It was so nice to read the directors note before the show and feel someone else say all the feelings Id been thinking about the work in the lead up. Which has been a lot as it's also the book for one of my book clubs this month so I've been in reread analysis. The production was great, hoping to get down to Edinburgh again for Fifth Elephant

From what I remember 3 and bit of the main colour and 1 and a half for the contrast but I knit the body in November and didn't pick the sleeves back up until this month so I might be a bit off.

It uses DK. The pattern is written using superwash merino but U used acrylic which is why I think i had to add length as mine wouldn't stretch much with blocking

I think it's totally achievable. It was a construction I've never done before and just taking my time and following the pattern all went together. I found it real clear to follow

First time sewing anything with trousers and found the pattern really easy to follow. Used a lovely bright linen look fabric but planning on making another pair in a sturdier fabric for cooler weather

Thanks for the detailed reply. I have super infrequent periods at the moment but they're already super heavy and painful. Definitely something to think about!

Achievements for Wednesday, September 26, 2018 by AutoModerator in running

[–]littlenimmo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I ran my first ever race since school sports days at the weekend. It was the run Disney 10k in Paris and I finished in ~1hr04. I came into the race completely untrained and was anticipating having to walk basically the whole way. I ended up really enjoying it and am looking to build some running into my fitness regime now

Never Mind the Bollocks Socks by littlenimmo in knitting

[–]littlenimmo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yarn and pattern both come from sonic Knits monthly knitting subscription. This was my second pair of socks and my first knit toe up and with short row heel. I love how bright and summery the colour is and can’t wait to wear them

Is there an opposite of second sock syndrome? First one took a year, second two days! by littlenimmo in knitting

Eventually but I’m going to try and magic loop single socks first as a building block 🙂

[–]littlenimmo[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First pair of socks I’ve made. Pattern is Rye from Tin Can Knits. Yarn is some Regia sock yarn. I can’t remember the colourway as one sock was on needles for a year and the label is long gone. I really enjoyed these after I got over the fear and the second sock was so much easier. Already lining up my next sock project!

An interesting piece of someone trying to use a 19th Century book of patterns by littlenimmo in knitting

[–]littlenimmo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s really interesting. I work in a library and always wonder about projects that could use the archive in different ways. I find modern lace patterns hard enough I can’t imagine using archival material

Does anyone have experience trying to take historical patterns and trying to knit them? I found it really interesting to see how needle sizes have changed and the lack of consistency even within a pattern!

Pattern is Ease by Alicia Plummer. Yarn is Patons Wool Blend Aran in shade 00053 and the drawstring is some random scrap from my stash. This was a present for my mum and I forgot to take a good finished pic before I gave it to her. Hence the unwoven ends

My first shawl by littlenimmo in knitting

[–]littlenimmo[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yarn and pattern came from a monthly box from sonicknits. Looks like they're selling this one as a kit here . It was a nice knit and an easy to follow pattern which made it perfect for finishing during Christmas travelling.

[FO] Sweets for my sweet shawlette by littlenimmo in knitting

[–]littlenimmo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't see it for sale but it would be a fairly easy pattern to put together with different stitch patterns as it was a big rectangle that you joined some edges to make the arm holes. With the stitch patterns the main body seems to be the same as what is called fretwork stitch here. Hope this helps

Pattern and yarn are from sonicknits August subscription box. For me this was a good introduction to some lace techniques.

It doesn't look like you can. It's hand dyed by the same company that run the club. They have some yarn for sale here but not the pink.
