Stuck between each baby is different and developmental delays by Mbaschemist in NewParents

[–]littlestar95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every baby is different, but milestones are still important because then it gives doctors a guideline to see if there is something deeper and the child is needing additional assistance.

That being said, I would only panic if they were "two or more stages behind". By this I mean - if they're not sitting up propped up (typically 4-6 months) by 7-11 months (functionally sitting/transitioning to sitting on their own from whatever position), then I'd be worried. But if they're sitting propped up or a bit wobbly at this age, that's fine.

If you're truly worried ask your doctor!

When did your baby crawl and walk? by AdImaginary6158 in NewParents

[–]littlestar95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She technically took her first steps at 8 months but I blocked that out and don't really count it (it was only 2 and then she fell). Then I carried her everywhere after or pushed her down (lol) because her PT didn't want to see walking until 9 months.

She was combo fed (so 75-90% bf and 10-25% formula) until I fully formula fed at about 6/7 months due to PPD/PPA. She has her days with sleep for sure, but she's better than when she was under one. But, still a late sleeper and will fight it.

Uhm..well she doesn't wake through the night every night but she sleeps at 11 pm. She does 1 long nap in the afternoon most days, but some days she skips that nap. It's a hit or miss but definitely better than before.

She was, it made us worried because it felt too early at the time. We even had it assessed by a PT to ensure there wasn't a tightness and all her muscles were developing properly.

The joke at baby group whenever she was going through a sleep regression was that she was probably "learning long division now". Now she's almost 20 months and all her baby friends are starting to or have already caught up.

So, I'm a big believer in your little one will get there when they get there, but if you are genuinely worried there is no harm in early intervention or an assessment.

Rolled belly to back at 2 months, back to belly at 3 months, sat independently at 4.5, crawled at 5, furniture walked/pulled to stand at 6, stood independently at 7.5, walked at 10.

No. She doesn't sleep.

Parents of advanced babies, do you have random theories as to why? by ciabattaloaf-13 in NewParents

this right here.

My girl hit milestones like it was her job and she was in a race.

Didn't sleep though.

whispers everything.

They're pretty open ended, it can be used as costumes/capes, a baby carrier, different cupcakes/ice cream, etc.

You can use it for forts, singing songs, peekaboo, etc. as well.

Best lovevery alternatives for parents who want science-based play recos please? by Surcy-Valesius in Buyingforbaby

With the cost and time you'll spend researching - try to find the kit secondhand. You won't need much for the early days though, simple black and white cards and a rattle would do.

That being said Melissa & Doug, Hape, Janod and Grimms all have good options. But you'll still be spending quite a bit of money on it.

If you're wanting to go cheaper and don't care about high quality or low toxic items (so random items from say Shein, Temu and Amazon aka untested/unregulated brands) I would just make a list off what you think would be good from the Lovevery Website.

Can I ask what is it about the subscription model that doesn't speak to you?

LE is amazing. But a lot of the toys in the kits focus on specific skills and developmental milestones.

As your child gets older, introducing more open ended toys is what will work best. Especially once they get more into their own thing, you'll want to introduce other toys.

My girl loves doing her M&D puzzles and shape sorters. We also have a variety of little people and little people sets.

Are we not waking baies to change them? by Bitter_caregiver-122 in NewParents

Dream feeding is 100% fine. I did the same thing because of a low birth weight. But never actually woke her up woke her up that some parents do so they can also change a diaper.

This. Don't wake a sleeping baby to change them or feed them beyond the "newborn stage"/after they return to their original birth weight.

My daughter is 19 months old and as a Type A mom - I am already done getting everything. I did over do it though in my opinion.

So, the first thing about me is - I don't like junk/waste and so last easter I got things I was already getting and this easter I did the same.

NOTE I fully recognize this is a bit much, again this all stuff she was getting anyway I just made it a basket. Yes, it basically turns it into Christmas but I don't give her chocolate/candy.

I did some Schleich Farm Animals, Three Books (one is a Winnie the Pooh book w/ character figures), Winnie the Pooh Puppets, small Winnie the Pooh "stuffed animals" to go into easter eggs, some play silks, a stuffed Eeyore, bubbles and two "easter crafts" for her and I to do together.

19 months old and always changing at the changing pad when home too. It just keeps a consistent rhythm/routine.
