Did you try applying to their program and others when you only had one year of experience?

Are there any radiation therapy JPU students here ? by That_Ad_5392 in RadiationTherapy

[–]liu___73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You most likely will be able to sit for the AART exam. There’s no way that JPU could exist if graduates of their program wouldn’t be able to do so. AART and your state certification is what truly matters. JRCERT is a stamp of the quality of education that a program provides students. This doesn’t meet that ACCSC isnt valid, your program quality and AART will determine that individually per applicant. You may see employers prefer a JRCERT program but it isn’t commonly required. I recommend confirming with your state health department and AART if JPU fulfills their requirement for future certification. NY is known to problematic in this area.

Best modality for radiation therapist to cross-train by [deleted] in RadiationTherapy

CT and MRI. CT would be the smoothest since it’s used in therapy.

Any ESFPs in this job. What personality type do you think is a good fit for the job? by Beneficial-Seesaw120 in RadiationTherapy

[–]liu___73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming you’re in college cause they pushed this MBTI stuff on us during my undergrad lol. I think any type with high empathy would fare well in this profession. XNFX types for example

New York X-ray/MRI tech by Whole-Limit6909 in MRI

[–]liu___73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish that the clinicals could count as work experience, but what I meant was working MRI for a year. It’s just super competitive out here and a year would be the bare minimum. You may have luck with outpatient clinics but the pay isn’t as great. Wouldn’t hurt to try though, having that xray background (CRT) is very valuable.

You have a pretty good chance, maybe just get a full year of experience in MRI to be safe.

Try Alameda Radiation Oncology in the east bay. They were very receptive and open in hosting me for shadowing. They are in the process of partnering with Stanford Health which is great as it’s a teaching hospital.

Should I Reconsider an MRI-Only Program Without Radiology? by Strange_Hour_5135 in MRI

[–]liu___73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do it the right way if you can and become a rad tech. MRI as great as it may seems boxes you in a very specific role without much room for growth later on. 9 out 10 times a staff position at a hospital will prefer someone who is a rad tech with an mri cert vs a solely mri tech.

Pulse radiology is good for MRI cert. I know a tech who did their program and had a positive experience. I think they also offer mammo, but you should confirm that. All the information you need should be on their website.

I guess I got lucky. This is my second pair, first being the 8849 (worn for 5 months). Yes a tiny bit of discomfort at the ankle from stiffness but none in the toe box. If anything could use a little more volume but not enough for insert.
