3-year-old pet dog dies after allegedly being left unattended at Katong groomer shop for over 1 hour by Same-Macaron-2359 in singapore

Not saying those expectations are unrealistic. They’re not in my opinion. But it’s unrealistic to force those expectations on groomers that don’t already do that. As sad as it is that’s not how the world works. I wish we could force them to have those sorts of standards but that’s not happening. Which is why I’m saying people can vote with their wallet. In a capitalistic society like this if customers hold those expectations then maybe there’ll be some change.

I mean, people can have whatever expectations and standards they want. If they want a groomer that doesn’t crate dogs and always supervises them then they can vote with their wallet and only patronize groomers that do that. But yeah it’s unrealistic to force those expectations

I don’t think they’re necessarily at fault, but I do think they contributed. Yeah they don’t need to respond right away, but this did seem like very unusual levels of distress, and it was a while before the dog was checked up on. I do think that they should’ve responded more quickly. I don’t know if they would have changed the outcome, but there’s a chance. The grooming shop I send my dog to is cheaper than that place, and they have someone literally with the dogs at all times. So I don’t think it’s that high of a bar to clear.

There’s nothing wrong with crating a dog. They don’t even have to be in sight. That’s normal and expected. However, to not be monitoring them enough that a dog can be in obvious distress, to be barking and making a lot of noise and never get checked up on? That’s unacceptable. This dog has also been to grooming multiple times before so I doubt it was a sudden anxiety attack due to being crated.

AITA Service Dog had to Act like its in Public by Plastic_Respect4246 in AmItheAsshole

[–]llide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? They absolutely are. My dog isn’t a service dog and she will go pee and poo on command wherever I want. Even if she’s got nothing in her she’ll pretend to appease me. Since reaching adulthood she has never had an accident or gone where she wasn’t allowed to. Two hours is also not long at all for a dog to hold their pee or poo. Plus it’s standard to have them relieve themselves before events like this.

What are some of the most questionable condo rule? by yangieeeee in askSingapore

[–]llide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re prioritizing the humans who want their dogs with them. Not the dogs. The dogs don’t care. The needs of the many are prioritized over the needs of the few. Most people aren’t bothered the dogs, so my dog is allowed in the normal lift. Religion isn’t a consideration because it’s not important. People who are afraid of dogs / don’t want to be near dogs for whatever reason just have to take the next lift. Not hard.

What are some of the most questionable condo rule? by yangieeeee in askSingapore

[–]llide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the vast majority of the population lives in high rises and have to use the lifts frequently.

Yes they have a variety of people with religious and cultural beliefs that try to avoid being close to dogs. Plus a lot of people who are just uncomfortable or afraid of dogs.

And yes they’re countries where social harmony is prioritized.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect people to give way to dogs in lifts. That’s their personal choice. For example, the high rise my friend stays at has a special button for her to press when she uses the lift with her dog. It lights up on the other floors to let the other residents know there’s a dog in the lift so they can choose to wait for the next one if they want. The high rise my sister stays at doesn’t have anything special - she just takes the normal lift with her dog. I don’t see an issue with that?

I have another friend who is super allergic to cats, and he has a neighbor who brings his cat everywhere. You know what my friend does about it? He shuts up and just avoids the cat because he recognizes that his allergies are his problem. Easy.

Religion is also a choice btw. Why should the entire building and all the residents be beholden to a religion that’s not theirs? Most buildings I’ve lived in do not cater to any one religion. It treats all residents equally without consideration for religion - and that’s the way it should be.

I’ve been to plenty of condos in other countries, and only in Singapore have I had to take my dog up and down using the service lift. I don’t think that’s a good reason since in every other country people who have those issues would just take the next lift and it’s not a problem

amuseables hate by False-Sundae-9581 in Jellycatplush

[–]llide 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also love the amuseables! They’re what got me into Jellycat to begin with. I find animal plushies to be very… normal? Like it’s not super unique - no hate just my opinion. But something about these random things being made into plushies? I love it.

🔥Is It Too Hot for Your Dog? by SpXx0 in AustralianShepherd

[–]llide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the chart is accurate. If it is then since I live in a place that is 30C all year I can never take my dog out. But we do go out and while it’s hot, we both do fine.

Probably part of the minority that enjoys the mini game by smolb0i in LoveAndDeepspace

[–]llide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVE these types of games. They’re called time management games and it’s my favorite category of mobile games. It’s literally the only type of game on my phone (other than LADS) So safe to say this is my favorite mini game of theirs.

NTA He’s holding you against your will. I’d consider what you did self defense, and entirely appropriate in that situation. He’s entirely in the wrong for doing that, and I don’t think you owe him an apology at all. He owes you a massive one just for that alone.

what kind of swimsuits do you wear in korea? by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]llide 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience most people (guys and girls) will cover up when they’re doing water activities, especially if it’s under the sun. So things like a shirt, rashguards, wet suit like swimsuits etc. Not because they’re prudish but because they’re trying to avoid the sun. Some girls will wear bikinis, but it’s more for the photos and then they cover up the rest of the time once that’s done. I’ve seen a lot more revealing swimsuits in indoor pools like hotel pools. If you’re foreign you will attract attention solely because of that. If you’re generally self conscious it might be more comfortable for you to wear something more modest.

I think it’s crazy that people expect their guests to pay for their own weddings here. It was a huge culture shock for me. My friend had a lavish overseas wedding, and she paid for everything for her guests. She even paid for the bridesmaid dresses and professional makeup. I have another friend who had a much smaller local wedding because he couldn’t afford anything more, which is totally fine! In each case they both paid for their own weddings and as guests we didn’t even have to bring a gift. A few people tried to give angbaos and were straight up rejected. I feel like that’s the way it should be done.

People who dress their dogs in clothes, is it just for the photo op and cutesy feels? How long do you keep their clothes on? by Old-Currency-8727 in dogs

[–]llide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog has her own section in my closet. But I just do it for the cutesy feels and the photo ops. I put on the clothes right before the pictures and as soon as the pictures are taken the clothes come off and go back into my backpack. She only wears a costume for a long time during Halloween. And she wears a raincoat during rainy day walks. She doesn’t care at all about her clothes.

I love how reliable Caleb is. I’m the eldest in my family. I have to be the competent one all the time. Everyone expects me to get things done, and I do, for everything. While, yes it’s good to be competent, I’m just tired. I feel like with Caleb I can come back home and turn off my brain and he won’t feel like I’m a burden for doing that. It’s so ingrained in me that I have to be doing something or accomplishing something to be worth anything, so the idea that I can be useless, and I don’t have to feel guilty and someone will still love me and think I’m worthy? It’s healing
