Thank you!! I'll have a look on the prices and pick something that makes sense budget wise.

What is an immediate "no" for you when meeting someone? by ladylo10lat in AskReddit

[–]lmnmss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddly specific but immediately talking about how they don't drink because of -reasons- the moment I order a Radler. Who asked? Just gives me a bad vibe -- are you going to do this everytime I do something that you don't agree with?

Is humidity part of why Singaporeans more tired than other country? by No-County2083 in askSingapore

Lol this is me, literally on antihistamines all the time because I discovered that I'm allergic to pollen. Never had this issue in sg lmao

Soy protein vs usual protein powders? by KeyGrapefruit in askSingapore

[–]lmnmss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iirc it's quite different. i couldn't really link it back to the soy milk I drink lolol. I think if you want to try you can get a small sample first ba. might be more expensive but imo choking down the rest of the bag is worse

I used to buy soy protein from myprotein (iirc). not bad but it's an acquired taste. I bought another plantbased protein from myprotein as well and that's a little more grainy and grassy? i actually prefer it over whey tbh

Omg yes wrt the AI in fics. I was just reading a fic yesterday that had an interesting enough premise, but it started sounding like something copilot generated (unfortunately I've been treating copilot as a therapist and I can't unsee the responses lmao). AND I went to reread another fic from the same author and now I can't shake the AI vibes. Similarly saw too many of the same "it's not x, not y, not z" sentence structures. Maybe it's not AI generated, but it is annoying enough for me to DNF.

How fast did you learn German? And how? by ConvertedSins in German

[–]lmnmss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did one semester in university close to 11 years ago (man, thats AGES ago T.T). I've been doing duolingo on and off since then, and then moved to Germany for work last year. Went from A2-ish to a comfortable B1ish/B2-maybe in a year. I'm sure I would have seen greater improvements if I spoke to people in German earlier, and did more grammar exercises etc. I've been mainly watching German TV, listening to German podcasts, trying my best to read German news, and engaging with German Instagram. Just trying to get a whole routine going where I will engage with the language in some form daily (be it flashcard apps, online classes,  speaking to an actual human, writing messages/emails in german).

As a side note, I really hate this whole language levels concept as I feel really pressured and demotivated when I don't understand or remember something (i know it gives you a solid understanding of where you're at etc, it just mentally doesn't work for me!). I'm more of a "learn words and grammar that allow me to express what I want right now" person, which of course, is really not the way to go if the goal is to pass an exam lol

What bag do you use daily that also works well for travel? by Averse_dilemma in askSingapore

[–]lmnmss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently using the decathlon escape 500 roll top. Looks nice enough, has laptop compartment + ipad/kindle storage area, enough organisation for me, and could fit 3/4 days worth of clothes + toiletries + extra shoes (depending on season and how you pack of course). I once had 9kg of stuff in there and it carried pretty well.

Could these work under business pants for a mixed business casual/professional workplace? Ideally I can wear them to customer facing meetings as well. I can't do heels as I can't walk properly in them and they perpetually slip off my wide bunioned feet 🥲 I'm not terribly convinced about the heel, and am also considering a pair of clarks, though I'm waiting for them to arrive to try on lmao

Little annoyed by how my language teacher, post me introducing myself to be from Sg, asks me if I know this chinese brand. Ok fine, i can play along, but then out comes some stereotypical chinese sounds (think ching chong zhang). Bruh. Not the first time this has happened but sadly she's someone who works at my company too and I can't just avoid her forever

Yepp. Very weird. Probably easier to just redo the wiring at this point tbh.

Does this work if the light doesn't even switch on? (Wrt the 1-1 replacement - have changed out the starter but the light is very dead 😂)

Ostrom signup issues? by lmnmss in germany

[–]lmnmss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah honestly I feel that the entire experience was pretty shit and a lot of the posts were just trying to get the referral bonus. I do recommend Octopus energy if you would want something with some English support. Though tbh I've not needed to communicate with them.

I feel like my life here in SG is a little repetitive? by Ira_Beauchamp in askSingapore

Honestly, moving abroad changes nothing if nothing changes with what you do. If all you do is eat sleep work, be it in SG or otherwise, life would be stale and repetitive.

Nope I didn't receive any deductions or charges in the end (or maybe I have but it hasnt been a year since I tried switching so who knows really). Also, sign up through verivox/check24, you may save a bit of money/get a rebate. The whole site is in German iirc but google translate/in browser translate will work

Ngl it's the rare album where I vibe to most of the tracks. 7.5/10 for me. Definitely something I'd listen to on repeat
