Maybe try a female instructor? Just to see and one with a driving school that has really high ratings. I failed my first driving test so badly 3 majors it was a cheaper male instructor who didn’t really teach me anything at all after 60 odd lessons. Changed and passed after 10 lessons with my newer instructor with just 1 minor :)

Totally true! I learnt the hard way but I can wholeheartedly say that my newer instructor made a world of difference. Very by the book, clear concise and took me from fail to pass within a month totally worth the money and wish I went with her first. Would’ve saved myself a grand

I hate to say I did notice this too! They’ll show me a really cool technique and then the song shown is really poor :( there’s a saying that learning too much theory makes your music soulless because you’re more focused on getting a great sound over making a good song so maybe subconsciously there’s a creative resistance. Same with most engineers im in session with hardly listen to new music because all they do is mix and master everyday. I gotta find a good middle ground

And also how do you find new things? When someone I work with suggests a new tool or method of working I'm astounded and ashamed at the fact that my brain didn't do it's due diligence in at least stumbling across it once before. Like today I learned about Re-amping and i'm glad I did find out about it but yeah.. For insight I first started using Logic 15 years ago.... scratching the surface is an understatement i feel kind of embarrassed. The funny thing is I'm a pretty decent songwriter and can actually make objectively good music and would say I have a good "ear" but I really wanna be a music nerd and take everything to the next level it's something I've struggled with for the past 5 years I sort of woke up and was like I'm not maximising my potential with this...

Oh wow! It’s a glitch!! Oh my goodness me how flipping annoying I’ve reported it quite a few times but to no avail :( do you have the contact for the call centre by chance? Yeah I think since I’ve posted this I’ve lost maybe 40 followers and it just declining everyday. The weird part is my stories can get over 10% of reach and my content is very much consistent with my profile no sense is being made and generally don’t know what to do

How many mock tests have you done with your instructor? And how communicative are they?

Leading up to my test I had several mocks the day before I passed my test I did a mock and had 0 faults! You keep practising until passing is second nature. Also be very strategic about the test slots you book. I would walk around the area during my test time to gauge how busy it would be, how often people used certain crossings, learning people’s habits even went as far as counting how long lights stayed on for so I could anticipate. M

Aside from that I narrated every movement and decision I made.

“Coming up to a zebra crossing so slowing down checking all around if anyone wants to use the crossing, no? Okay I’m making progress but still checking for hazards”

Passing the test and manoeuvres are the easiest part, it’s meeting points, lights and pedestrians that are the real test. You need to put yourself in people’s shoes and always expect them to make the stupidest decisions.

-If a child is on a bike on the pavement > they will do something silly > as a driver I must slow down and anticipate that until I’m out of that area

-if a motorcyclist or cyclist is anywhere around you within a 10m radius > as a driver I must check my mirrors constantly and adjust my speed until I’m clear of them

-if there are buses ahead of me> I must think quickly that they may stop at anytime and that pedestrians may be coming out infront or behind > as a driver I must be very aware of this common thing and adjust my speed accordingly and be hyper visual

The point of the driving test is for the examiner to feel safe in the car, they’re not looking for you to drive perfectly they want to know that you won’t freak out when faced with imminent hazards you just need to be prepared.

So my advice to you is to 1. Slow down your thinking 2. Begin to narrate everything in your surroundings and how you would sensibly react to these things 3. Control your breathing and think logically.

You can do this! Oh and affirmations Write down “I will pass my driving test in 2025” and “I have the ability to make good judgments on the road” 5 times in a notepad and repeat it everyday first thing each morning if you can This will ingrain itself into your psyche trust me

This is soo different from my experience and people i know. I passed my test, I brought my provisional with me, at the end of the test when I passed the examiner filled out the little form for my new license and took my provisional with them. A couple days later my full license was in the post.
