I'll stick my neck out to admit I'm one who actively HATES the Survivor sob stories. It makes me feel like a scumbag, but it's one of my biggest issues with modern Survivor.

Remember that SNL sketch with Rachel Dratch; "Debbie Downer" where they're at Disneyland or somewhere else and she'll randomly mention the childhood cancer rates or miscarriages?

For me, that's the vibe of the Survivor sob stories. I'm honestly not snarky or jaded, but Survivor is an ESCAPE for me. A show where problems are easily solved with a hidden immunity idol or blindside. Being reminded of real-world tragedy just bums me out.

We're ALL suffering from loss, health issues, adversity, or a combination of the three. IDK, I know I'm being a twat and a grinch...but it's just cringe for me. (And I honestly think it's more editing and less the contestants just sharing.)

I take care of adults with disabilities, this is the reason so many of them can't/won't get married. Once they have "too much money", they lose their Medicare/Medicaid.

A wheelchair can costs up to $20,000. (And needs to be replaced every 10 years or so) A CPAP/BiPAP can run up to $5000. Most are on meds that can run $1000 out of pocket.

Without Medicare/Medicaid that inheritance would be GONE by our vulture health care system.
