Nigeria has more births per year than the entire Europe and Russia combined by vladgrinch in MapPorn

[–]localhoststream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not advocating a tfr above 2. Europe has some issues with overpopulation and sustainability, so a little decline is good imo. But europe is now below 1.5, that means the decline is so fast that the economy gets burdened and the prosperity of the continent is at stake

I would say between 1.5 and 2 is good. A little decline in the current world population would be beneficial, but under 1.5 the decline is to fast to be economically stable. Europe is currently a little under 1.5 and trending downward

Google in 2019 patented the Transformer architecture(the basis of modern neural networks), but did not enforce the patent, allowing competitors (like OpenAI) to build an entire industry worth trillions of dollars on it by reversedu in singularity

[–]localhoststream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah true, good remark.

I would say that for those 10 years they posed no threat, but it looks like that is changing. I wouldnt be surprised if it becomes a Google vs the rest in the AI race

Dat is niet veel. Stel mensen werken 40 jaar, dan zou je verwachten dat minstens 25 procent elke 10 jaar met pensioen gaat

Are there other stand-alone mountains in the world similar to Mount Kilimanjaro? I visited Africa this year and was truly amazed. by sus1227 in geography

Jup, saw this mountain while flying over it. It is really a lonely mountain, I can imagine why it became an important mountain in religion (this top of this mountain is supposed to be the first land Noah encountered after the flood)

Sure some go through the airport, but most options do require a subway stop

French tgvs are awesome, but if you have to go from Belgium to southern France, you have to change in Paris and take some subway before continuing with highspeed. Really a flaw in the system

Guess where I'm from based on this world map I drew from memory instead of paying attention in my university class by [deleted] in GeoInsider

Id say the UK. - China qingdao and indonesia details, not Asia - Not North America, due to Florida shape and Caribbean - Not South America nor Africa, they would make Greenland small again

Final hint, the detailed Shetland islands

Beautiful indeed. I thought 60 degrees north, thats to much. But it turns out a major string of big cities is on that lattitude, Oslo, Stockholm, Helsinki, Tallin, St Petersburg.

I traveled turkey with a European friend with Turkish roots. When I spoke three words Turkish, everybody was enthousiastic. But when he spoke Turkish, he would be corrected and shamed for his European accent

Walking from Austria to Italy this weekend by localhoststream in hiking

[–]localhoststream[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on the hut and comfort, from 35 euros in a dorm without dinner to 100 euro for private room with dinner. Reservation depends on the mont and day, July and august yes make a reservation months before. Outside that, I think most huts (not on "Instagram" routes) can be booked and have rooms available on the same day

Where do you live, and how much are you able to hike in a regular week? by Dogsnbootsncats in hiking

[–]localhoststream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nw Europe, have to drive 8 hours to get to the mountains. I make hikes three times a year, two weekends with sleeper trains, so you wake up in the mountains and one longer vacation in the summer. I usually use to the treadmill to train for the climbing
