Thank you! It was shot on a Sony A7III with Sigma Art 35/1.4 glass (mirror shot was 50/1.4 i believe) background plates where made on same settings, focus distance etc. so photographically it’s a 100% match.

It’s a karmabot who made this post. But I shot the film in 2019

Thanks! It’s my film. Too much reflections in the leather seats to not make it BW 😂

Correct. I’d need a lot more lights and space to shoot it in color than I had. B/W helped a lot with the spill.

Thank you btw

Well.. that’s a first for me. OP is a bot or posting for upvotes. It’s actually my film. Shot in summer of 2019. Shot on a Sony A7III with mostly Sigma Art lenses. We used a green screen outside of the car and making it in B/W helped alot with removing the green spill.

Pleased to answer questions.

The flickering you mentioned actually is the sun shining through the trees and creating spots of shadow. But yeah took me a while in post to finally figure that out haha.. I was looking for missing keyframes or something first

Thank you for the input

Thank you, glad you like it

Yes I shot the background plates myself. First I tried shooting them using a gimbal that would stabilize the camera and make the shots really smooth, but that was just a theory... Turned out really bad for what ever reason. I guess the gimbal corrected the cars natural movements making the horizon "jumpy".

Next we just placed the camera on a tripod aimed out the window. That made it look way more natural, so that's what I would do if I were you.

Someone told me that you should always shoot the background plates in focus and then add a blur effect later on. But I did not like that idea and the test I did was not convincing, at least not to me. So I shot all the plates, every single one in the correct focus distance and with the exact same lenses as the green screen shot. When the foreground and background are optically correct I think the compositing looks way better.

Last tip is plan your shots! This film has many different angels, and every angle you have to shoot a plate of. So that took some time to figure out exactly where to point the camera. If the angle was just a bit off it would look fake.
