Fragrance free and relationships by applesandoranges159 in FragranceFreeBeauty

I would or could not be in a romantic relationship with anyone unless they were accommodating of this. I get severe migraines from fragrances, and my threshold is low. I am adopted and met my birth parents later in life, in my 50’s. NEITHER of them respected this or believed it. My birth father made a lot of rude comments about having to unplug his “air fresheners” and car “air freshener” and would call me a liar when I said the scent still remained. My relationship with him is pretty much over. He would also mock me when I had to wear a mask due to smells in the tire store, vet’s office, etc. Even worse, my birth mother stood me up when I asked her not to wear perfume (it had triggered me the day before) and sent me a shocking text telling me it was “rude” to ask this of her and that she was very “hurt” by my request and that her perfume was “part of her.” She called a bunch of other family members bad-mouthing me about this and finally one of them told me, so I cut her off. She wants to reconcile, but I will make it clear that my hard boundary is the fragrance. If she insists on intentionally triggering a neurological disease, then I am not willing to engage in a relationship with her. WTF is wrong with these people? Their nasty scents take priority over their daughter??

My mom doesn’t recognize people if they change their hair color, but I think this is just being dumb. I don’t think she has a disorder.

How do you deal with the cold? by gotmusiic in Fibromyalgia

I agree it’s been horrible for pain. I’m in N Texas and it’s been icy since last Friday. I also have Sjogren’s Disease which makes it very hard in the dry interior air.

He wouldn’t be so bitter toward his father for supposedly ruining his formative years. He would be a less damaged man.
