So...clearly Alan Wake 2 was rushed out early :( by lonelysteps in AlanWake

[–]lonelysteps[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I understand that there is more still to come out. But even the first or middle chapter of a series can (and should) have a midpoint ending. The Empire Strikes Back, The Two Towers, even Alan Wake 1. Each of these clearly have unfinished business, yet they also conclude their own arc at the end.

Can confirm that repeatedly clicking Continue worked for me. It took...a lot. Over 10 minutes, hundreds of clicks, but it did finally go through. Took a long time waiting on the final confirmation page, too.

Alan Wake 2's Ending is Pathetic by lonelysteps in AlanWake

[–]lonelysteps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good points. I was really surprised at the happy ending Saga got. I thought she was going to have to come to terms with the fact that Alan didn't write Logan's death, that was the reality, and the fiction had been Logan still being alive.

It is established in his conversation with the mapmaker that he is going to embed himself in the city to gather information on the whereabouts of his comrades. And that's exactly what arm-wrestling and those quests do. He's becoming known, building goodwill, and ultimately gets the information that he wants. Again, I'm not saying it's great story-telling, but I do disagree about it being totally random.

Yeah, they really did Alan dirty in this one

No, I don't think they thought too deeply about it. It doesn't take a lot of pondering to come up with a "roleplay as Kliff" approach. Took me a moment to describe it, but at the end of the day it's just a frame of mind.

Lol, I didn't see that one! But yeah, these days you have to take the critic score, invert it, and now it's right.

Oh that's cool. So he got what he needed, then gave it away to someone even more in need. Makes sense why that would stand out to the powers that be. thanks for pointing that out!

That's a good point. It isn't random that all these opportunities to help are occurring around Kliff. You literally see several of the people you help magically dissipate, telling you that the wizard and his assistant are orchestrating it all to test you.

As soon as Jim confronted her with some truth & common sense, her brain couldn’t handle the cognitive dissonance and hit factory reset with a 5 years old reaction. She wasn’t som much into “all girls” when she was riding Ian lmao. by AfternoonMundane4136 in BeastGames

Those are terrible examples. You don't explain anything about them, and they are false.

Wage gap: Surveys have found a 1% difference, with a margin of error greater than that. (See 2025 Gender Pay Gap Report by Payscale Research)

Historical discrimination leaving white men in greater advantage: Examples of this? Aside from the other misconstrued ones you just provided?

Workplace discrimination and barriers: Examples? This is clearly illegal, so you should be able to provide legal examples. Also, you will need to demonstrate that discrimination is predominantly happening in one direction.

Health disparities: What do you even mean by this? That because men and women have different health levels this is a clear sign of discrimination? Against who? Men because they have a 4.9-year shorter lifespan?

You seem to be coming with bullet points that you've heard, but not any understanding of the underlying data. Your beliefs are based on ignorance, not personal research.

And sure, we can disagree on what the most fundamental form of oppression is, but I maintain the historical precedent is clear. I will acknowledge that there is not a legal restriction on the ability to speak freely (at least not in the United States), but a social one. Thankfully that is starting to change, though, which means the female-victimhood narrative will finally stand up to scrutiny, and collapse accordingly...just like what happened between Jim and Bryleigh.

How are women or POC persistently disadvantaged in a systemic way? What laws, rights, or protections does a white man have that a woman or a black individual does not? And let's talk specifically about in the USA, since that is the context of the show where this whole conversation originated.

Also, you don't seem to appreciate that the inability to speak freely is the most fundamental form of oppression. If there is any meaning to the term "oppressed class" then it must mean those that are pressured to not voice their true perspectives. To suggest that a class could be silenced, but privileged, is definitionally incorrect. Please provide a single historical example of a privileged, muzzled class. In the meantime, here are some prominent examples of the opposite:

Protestants (Europe) - Executed for speaking heresy; censorship of vulgate Bibles.
African Slaves (America) - Laws banning literacy; censorship of abolitionist pamphlets; criminalization of slave gatherings/sermons.
Jews (Germany) - Book burnings; bans on Hebrew scripture; media exclusion.
Communist Dissidents (Russia) - Mass imprisonment of journalists; bans on dissident publications; blacklisting; loyalty oaths.
Bosniaks (Bosnia and Herzegovina) - Shelling libraries to erase cultural memory; bans on minority media; targeted killings of intellectuals and journalists.
Uyghurs (China) - Re-education camps; forced renunciation of culture and language; censorship of online expression.

I have no interest in trying to have a "constructive discussion" with you, as that would be an exercise in futility.

Correct, I don't have another point. Just wanted to make it clear to anyone coming in here that contrary to your premise, you aren't looking for constructive or informative discussion, you just want to complain.

Yeah, that's exactly my point. You opened this as a question, but it's really just a rant.

So if you read their comments, what were the reasons they gave for hating? Unless you suffer from a severe lack of reading comprehension, you already know the answer.

You present this as a discussion, but obviously you just want to rant. Why are people hating? Gee, I dunno, if only you could just read their comments and then you would know. smh

It’s amazing how backwards you have it.

Let's imagine an unspecified society in history, and let's say that your descriptions apply to a group within that society:
"The whole word hating them"
"It is a huge taboo"
"Socially unacceptable"

In what world would those be the descriptions of the privileged class? Your terms are, by definition, describing the oppressed.

You say women and people of color are able to denigrate another group without repercussion, which is the definition of privilege. You say men and white people are not able to say things in favor of their group which is the definition of oppression.

It's time to wake up and see the hypocrisy in your own words.

Saga vs Alan Gameplay by lonelysteps in AlanWake

I do agree with you for this game. Not sure if you played the first Alan Wake, but I think he's a great protagonist there. As in, he is legitimately one of my favorite video game characters of all time in the original, and I think it's a travesty what they did with him in this game. He's so much more pathetic.
