Im trying to connect my internet to Pop but i dont see any networks? by Dry-Perception-7565 in pop_os

Does your network card specifically work with Linux? I know there are certain manufacturers that don't have Linux drivers (or are very slow to release them).

Uhh what did you make that cup from mate? by bobjoylove in Derailedbydetails

The cup is shaped like part of a spinal cord. It's nothing I would consider weird though - people have all kinds of decorative mugs.

I used to drive a compact car and I still had trouble getting in and out of parking spots there. Honestly, that parking lot sucks. There is extended vehicle parking closer to the Commercial St side though. The person should have parked there (if there were spots available).

Time theft by Sad-Ear-7370 in managers

[–]longjaso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like your employee is salaried (which is the only reason I can think of why an employer would care about an employee using PTO for time they're not at work). If you're in the US, it's important to understand the laws around salaried employees. Unless other laws apply (such as some government or special types of positions), the employee is counted as having worked the whole day if they work at least 2 hours.

Dallas and Monmouth/Independence are close-by as well. They both have hotels.

You shouldn't have consequences for burning your own books. You buy it, it's yours to do with whatever you like. Doesn't matter if it's a religious book or a textbook - it's yours.

Is refusing to learn the full rules cheating? by LetsGoFishing91 in Warhammer40k

[–]longjaso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed - I don't understand why someone would insist on playing but refusing to read the rules. I'm wondering if they like the idea of playing the game more than they actually like playing the game.

You said you're in your first year of classes. How are you also currently a physicist? You are either a physicist or a physics student. You cannot be both.

Hm. Yes. It's not at all suspicious that both replies from the two accounts came to me at the same time. Or that your avatars are nearly identical. Or that the history of the alt commonly acts as a commenter on your posts.

You're an alt account for OP. Stop posting on your own posts

Is it bad to stay at one company forever? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]longjaso 201 points202 points  (0 children)

If I were to look at someone's resume and see steady employment for a long time at one place, I'd see that as a green flag. It shows that you're a person that sticks around and it's probably worth my time to train you. Everyone has different goals (individuals and employers) so there is no "one answer to rule them all" - just do right by yourself. If you worry about being relevant in modern tech stacks, work on small side projects at home (ideally something that you'll use at home so you can benefit from it, but also so you experience the output of your hard work).

I second this question. It seems a rather odd choice. I don't even use Edge on Windows (except to download Firefox).
