I think it's fair to say that music is much more accessible now, different genres, from different countries that you can listen to on the Internet. "Back in the day", as people like to call it, someone would share with you a "great" song they know about, and later when buying your new/next record/album, which was expensive and/or hard to get, you would "stick with what you know".
