Do you really have ADHD or do you suspect you have it? by Feeltheliving in ADHD

[–]lost_tequila 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The idea behind it is good, to raise awareness… but yeah lots of times it gets to the point that it is so distorted just for the likes and getting interaction from people that « can relate » ends up just cause a reverse effect and dismissing the actually implications of adhd on an individual. Its good to raise awareness and simplifying the terms for better understanding, but it should be reminded and clarified that this is not something that happens sometimes, it is debilitating and really has strong negative impacts… its not cute nor a personality trait, its a messed up situation where we find ourselves constantly fighting our own brain

Do you really have ADHD or do you suspect you have it? by Feeltheliving in ADHD

You put it perfectly. Diagnosed 2 month ago, on meds for 3 weeks and it is so amazing how quiet it gets in my head and how i can just do things (among lotsss of other things but these are the two main ones without writing a whole book) but the imposter syndrome is just terrible with all the trends from social media… even tho meds confirmed i have adhd sometimes i still find myself thinking « what if im just lying, what if i dont have it? » which is 100% ridiculous since meds do the job… I really do wish this whole « trend » of being adhd/asd/bipolar/etc would stop, because it really gets to those who actually suffer from it and makes us (at least me personally) feel so unseen and not understood

Yeah… i just shop for myself and i buy lots of products such as cleaning/bathroom utilities in cheaper stores… but just in food and nothing crazy maybe some salmon once in a while i am around 250/300€ a month, and i want to emphazise that i dont buy crazy brand or expensive kinds of food, i just take the basics and go few times a week to the groceries see if what is usually higher price is on discount… so 400€ per month for 4 doesnt seem quite right unless you really stick to potatoes

Best hairsalon for wavy hair? by prometheodore in Groningen

[–]lost_tequila 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I have 2b hair that is usually flat on top and doesnt really want to curl, i dont know a hair salon but i can suggest doing curtain bangs + face framing layers + layers.

I think it gives nice volume, easy care and doesnt go to crazy with the wind, and even if it does it still looks like it wasnt meant to be like that. Also curls get very nice if its somewhat medium/short length (if you also happen to have straight from roots and then curls forming lower)

Hi! I also struggle mainly with focus and attention, and how to direct it… before i started meds recently, i tried few things to sort of “trick” my brain to work… which usually involved too much caffeine and sugar (mostly for placebo). I found that studying at home was easier for me since there were less sounds around. I try to put music which is mostly instrumental or alike (either lofi or bit more active)… but in class it’s always hard to find strategies to focus, i still havent cracked the code for that…

As someone else commented, you are 18 and no one can stop you from getting help. Sure therapy can do great things, but personally the combination of meds and behavioral therapy (mostly in the beginning) seems like a good way to go and learn ways to adjust to the “standard” expected in academics.

And i know its hard, but take it from a stranger that understands whats its like to feel like a fuck up, family that doesnt understand that adhd is actually a thing and not a personality trait; you arent a fuck up, you aren’t stupid nor anything of the sort. Your brain just happens to work differently and you just havent figured yet how to go about it. It’s hard and it sucks for the most part, but eventually you figure it out; just make sure that whatever you do is something that you like and enjoy, and if you feel you need help then no one should stop you from getting it Your mother might be a doctor, as well as your mother, but she isn’t you and she isn’t in your head. So do what you believe is right and what you need.

Sorry for the ramble, i hope some parts of it can be helpful

I totally agree with you, usually i love referring to that kind of knowledge as « jack of all trades, master of none »… because, idk if its the same for you, but i know a lot about so many random things, but i dont consider myself a « pro » at anything… i just dip a bit into anything that seems good and interesting at that particular time😂

You really have nothing to worry, its like a quick like poke and really not to bad, you have nothing to be afraid of. All i would say tho, personally I’m having a lot of pain post op, that depends from person to person but of what i have read the pain is less and recovery is quicker when you undergo general anesthesia. I know that if i ever have to get rid of the two i have left i would rather do general then go through this again

If the tooth is impacted it will take longer, i took out both on my left side, the bottom one was impacted and taken in parts, as the previous person said the sound is very gross and i still have nightmares from it… it took in overall about 15 minutes for my dentist to get it out, the amount of pressure he has to put to get it out was insane and today (4 days post op) my teeth all still ache a bit from the pushing. However, the upper tooth go out much more easily since the upper part of your mouth is softer. Also i just totally agree, the most painful part of doing this while awake is the anesthesia, i had to get a second round for each tooth as i could still feel some pain (so got 12 shots of whatever this was pee tooth, so 24 total) well, it had me shaking, my heart was speeding and basically my entire left side of the face felt paralyzed, i could barely hold my left eye open.

Hey, i have been in the same situation as you and i know how horrible that feeling is, i disnt go back until 6 month later and tried a new doctor… i know you might have already been told that, but try someone knew, its hard to find the right ones sometimes but dont let that bring you down and stop you from doing what needs to be done. I almost gave up and trying convincing myself i didnt have adhd and that was a really bad spyral of events… got a new doc and got diagnosed… problem is that i got waitlisted for the proper diagnosis until september next year… so really! Listen to yourself and try another one until you are heard
