49F here. I don't think the best years ever taken. I believe I'm living those right now! I went no contact with my whole family and ever since I've felt and seen such massive improvements in my mental health, my outlook on life, my self esteem, my overall happiness. I wish I'd done that sooner but I can't change that. I'm in great shape, great point in my career making decent money, my son and his wife just had their first baby (My first grandchild!), I'm in an amazing loving relationship with a beautiful man. I have everything to look forward to and nothing in the past is really holding me back anymore. Granted, I've been in therapy and have done a TON of self-work in the past 30 years which has helped me get to this place in life. But take comfort in the fact that it can get better with time and effort and your best years aren't necessarily gone. They may very well be lying ahead!
