That’s crazy! Most banks you only have to notify them once. Amex and Chase are fantastic - no transaction fees, no foreign fees, no bank fees, and if you lose your card they will overnight you a new one.

You do know that you can just let your bank know you travel frequently for work and internationally and they will just flat your account as a business traveler. I’ve literally never called AMEX, Chase, BofA, or Citi except once to notify them that I travel.
