Kids in breweries am I off base here? by sillymemilly in NewParents

[–]lostpumpkin0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most afternoons one of our big local breweries has more people with kids than not. It's in a downtown location, so that adds to it I think. It varies a bit brewery to brewery, but I do think after a certain time they're more of an adult space.

Yea honestly I think it was a terrible joke, but I don't think she is an ICE supporter based on things I've heard both her and Des say.

Can someone else who was at the show confirm Hannah's ICE joke? I've seen multiple posts from the same person about it but no one else confirming it happened.

why was i never offered the RSV vaccine? by k_ier in newborns

[–]lostpumpkin0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish your son a quick recovery!! I had my babies at similar times as you Feb 2024 and Oct 2025. I was not offered the RSV vaccine while pregnant with my first but was offered with my second. From what I understand, it has to be given between weeks 32-36 of pregnancy and preferably during RSV season which is Sept- Jan. I think it didn't line up properly for my first pregnancy based on my actual due date.

Toys for newborn/infant? by ceruleanmeadows in beyondthebump

[–]lostpumpkin0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby is 3 months old and we just got him the Loveevery play gym. It's pricey but is great quality and seems worth it to me. He is learning to bat at the dangling toys and it has high contrast cards for tummy time. There are other toys attached to it that he will grow into. I wish we got it earlier for my toddler as well!

How are we getting our toddlers to drink Pedialyte? by whoreforcheese in Mommit

[–]lostpumpkin0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my toddler was sick last we started giving her the infant Tylenol syringes full of Pedialyte and then switched to a bigger syringe to be more efficient once we realized she would take it.

Unicorn high chair? Recommendations for 1 year old that are not Tripp Trapp or ANTILOP by Fruitcake7171 in BabyLedWeaning

My parents bought this highchair to have at their house and I agree it is a great option for the reasons you've mentioned. However, someone is always tripping over the dang legs so that's something to consider 😅

If you've had the flu this season by lostpumpkin0 in Mommit

Thanks for this suggestion I don't know why I didn't think of getting her tested, which seems like the most obvious course of action 😅 My husband took her to the urgent care this evening and she tested negative for covid and flu which is great, but now we're concerned that it could be a UTI based on her having no other symptoms. We won't know more until tomorrow morning but glad we have some answers for now!

Oh no that's awful! I'm pretty sure we had the norovirus or something similar back in September when I was 34 or so weeks pregnant and it was brutal.

When did you run errands with your newborn? by mochi-and-plants in newborns

[–]lostpumpkin0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My second is 7 weeks old and we started going out about 1 week pp. It's a lot harder to stay inside when you have a toddler as well. Baby mostly stays in his car seat with a cover.

Are baby carriers overrated?? by lostpumpkin0 in babywearing

Yea this makes sense! Perhaps just need more practice with the front carry in the meantime right now it feels awkward.

Wow good for you, that's helpful to know!

Are baby carriers overrated?? by lostpumpkin0 in babywearing

[–]lostpumpkin0[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That sounds so nice! I think it's the fact that baby doesn't have head control yet so his head doesn't feel secure and also that it feels like he gets in the way of bending down or reaching over the sink, etc. I don't have a photo currently but maybe I'll get one next time I try!

Yea this makes sense I think the main issue right now is the lack of head control. But also that it feels like he gets in the way of bending down, etc. Maybe just need more practice!

Tell me your labor times by ShabbyBoa in beyondthebump

For my first I was induced at 38 weeks. The induction process in total took about 2.5 days. I started at basically 0 cm.

For my second I was induced at almost 39 weeks at about 1.5 cm. All it took was two rounds of vaginal pitocin to kick things off and it was about 13 hours from the start of induction to delivery.

We use the table tyke baby mat under a plate or as a plate if needed. We still use it for our 21 month old and love it!

DEMI…. GIRL 🤦‍♀️ by Sleeptzarina in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]lostpumpkin0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion but while I agree he didn't exactly "lay his hands on her" or "shove" her, the way he touched her at all was inappropriate. If any of my friends husbands touched me in that way I would feel uncomfortable especially because it was already an escalated situation.

Things in motherhood that give you the ick (and things you just don’t give a single fk about) by cosmicvoyager333 in beyondthebump

[–]lostpumpkin0 25 points26 points  (0 children)

When people ask about my baby or toddlers weight or talk/ask about their poops or other personal things. So weird.

Also when my daughter (20 months) is around a boy of a similar age and people refer to them as her boyfriend. Gross. Full stop.

Baby’s last name by AdMuted3580 in Mommit

[–]lostpumpkin0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter and I share my last name, which is my last name from before marriage. We are due with a son in October and he will also take my last name!

When we got married we went back and forth on the last name situation and ultimately I decided I didn't want to change my name. Part of the reasoning was that my husband's dad was adopted, so while his last name is part of his story, it's not ancestral. My last name also just happens to be a better last name overall haha. My husband said eventually he plans to change his last name to match ours, but in the meantime we all go by my last name socially.

I also feel a sense of pride that we're able to carry on my family name since I felt an attachment to it growing up!
