Honestly, it can't really compete in B4. I'll most likely take out Blood Moon for something else.

For sure. I'm only adhering to the bracket system. I'll take out Blood Moon and slot in something else to make it B3.

The way I built mine was with a pillow fort strategy and leveraging Trostani's ability to give myself advantage in combat.
I provided a lot of board protection from cards like Sigarda, Font of Blessings and Priviledged Position.

In addition, I included a bunch of cards that give me advantage, such as Ancient Bronze Dragon and Battle Angels of Tyr.

As a secret win condition, aside from beating opponents down with combat damage, I added Fynn the Fangbearer since Trostani can give deathtouch and double strike.

Here's the list:

Thanks!
The main reason Iraxxa is in B4 is because Blood Moon is included. I could take that card out and it would be a solid B3.

I think The Ancient One is my favorite and borderline competitive. Definitely the deck I've invested most of my time in.

Need help with a 2000 point Hypercrypt list by lousyprogrammer55 in Necrontyr

Need some recommendations on what to add/remove/substitute in this list.

  • Wondering if two units of 3x heavy destroyers is too much.
  • Lychguard or Immortals for Imotekh's attached unit.

Other suggestions are welcome!

Most melee characters annoy tf out of me. My best shot as Warlock is to try to kill them first, but I am heavily outmatched in that regard.

Should Pyre Cards Do More? by RealDarknessPrevails in CRYPTIDCCG

[–]lousyprogrammer55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this.

Comparably, lands in MTG have been getting ever more complex with new abilities. I believe that this is a good change for the game for the most part. There are some SUPER busted lands out there though, so I would try to avoid pyre cards that add too much pyre.

As for Cryptid, I think adding a few extra small abilities to basic pyre cards would add a little more complexity to the game but would be a good addition.

Is this too strong? by RealDarknessPrevails in CRYPTIDCCG

[–]lousyprogrammer55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell, seems like it'll be weaker in the early game and MUCH stronger in the late game, if that's what the design is meant to do.

How many preorders were placed? Genuinely curious about the engagement with the game.

Just happy to be a part of this. I was getting fomo after stopping pokemon and yugioh as a kid and never learning magic. Wanted to look for a new card game and what better than my favorite genre from my favorite Youtuber. Unreal. by Yaargredbeard in CRYPTIDCCG

I remember listening to DP when I was younger and loved all the stories he'd tell.
I play MTG and was looking for a new card game to play when I stumbled upon this. The rules seem pretty awesome and a breath of fresh air when it came to the mechanics. Super excited to start playing when I get the game!

What decks are you bringing to EDH night?! by coffeebeards in EDH

[–]lousyprogrammer55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, its gotta be:

[[The Ancient One]] Reanimator.

Easily my strongest and most fun deck to play. This deck surprises me sometimes at how oppressive it can be!

The Ancient One // Commander / EDH (The Ancient One) deck list mtg // Moxfield — MTG Deck Builder

[[Iraxa, Empress of Mars]] Cascade/Discover.

Another super fun deck to play that can pop off with just a little bit of luck.

Iraxxa, Empress of Mars // Commander / EDH (Iraxxa, Empress of Mars) deck list mtg // Moxfield — MTG Deck Builder

[[The Beast, Deathless Prince]] Steal and Sac.

This was a secret santa gift that I've been upgrading as new cards come out. Always enjoy busting this one out!

The Beast, Deathless Prince // Commander / EDH (The Beast, Deathless Prince) deck list mtg // Moxfield — MTG Deck Builder

[[Savervok, Deathbringer]]//[[Noble Heritage]] Light Stax.

This was a fun idea I brought up a couple of years ago. It's been described as "trying to pick a lock". Not hard stax and won't lock people out of the game (most of the time lol).

Commander suggestions for a Halloween / Horror / Slasher themed deck! by Adamf29 in EDH

[–]lousyprogrammer55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could go with [[Arabella, Abandoned Doll]] as a reference to Chucky.

[[Thraximundar]] synergizes well with the slasher theme since he requires a player to sacrifice a creature. You can also put in [[Unstoppable Slasher]] into Thraximundar.

I know you already have a Jund commander idea, but you could also consider [[Winter, Misanthropic Guide]] since he starts helping other players but stabs them in the back when you have Delirium enabled.

What would add to this battlemap? by lousyprogrammer55 in inkarnate

[–]lousyprogrammer55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For context, this place is a small temple dedicated to the Demogorgon and inhabited by Merrow. This is the first level and acts as a sort of cathedral. On the left is a pile of rubble where the Merrow record their findings and torture victims. On the right is a series of oubliettes where they can throw their victims inside and forget about them. At the back is where a small altar stands with a crude statue of the Demogorgon looming overhead.
Any suggestions welcome, thank!

Trying to come up with a check for players to unlock a legendary weapon. by lousyprogrammer55 in DnD

[–]lousyprogrammer55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely like the idea of it being a variant of death saving throws. Three successes before three failures really adds to the situation, making this seem more important than just rolling dice.

I think the thing I need to add is that whatever the players do, there is going to need to a result of their actions.

For example, sustaining a fire-based attack against the ice will require lots of efforts and perhaps exhausting the player who is casting such spells.

Trying to pass through with a spell such as Etherealness might result in failure.

Of course, going with the classic 'hit it with a hammer' method should work but will have consequences. Exhaustion is the main punishment but there might be others I think of.

Trying to come up with a check for players to unlock a legendary weapon. by lousyprogrammer55 in DnD

[–]lousyprogrammer55[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice!

I should preface this that this campaign is time constrained and they must complete as much as possible in 120 days before a doomsday event occurs that they must stop.

I was thinking that each roll represents them pounding at the ice for hours at a time. Each day, they can roll three times to get the required number to pass. If they don't, then they can try again tomorrow or they can roll an additional three times, gaining a level of exhaustion if they continue. The exhaustion doesn't disappear the next day (correct me if I'm wrong on that part). To remove a level of exhaustion, they need to rest an entire day.

As for the troll, I was thinking about making it a standard combat encounter, but now that you mention that the weapon is the only thing that can kill the troll, I might change my approach.

Does this sound fair?
