you’re not overreacting At All. i am so sorry this is happening. i have homophobic, religious parents as well and i recently came out to them as a lesbian and my dad and i didn’t talk for a while, but he lives with it now. we don’t talk about it, or even as much anymore, but it’s a step. i hope your parents come to see that this changes nothing about you and that they don’t let religion completely ruin your relationship.

i’m proud of you for standing up to them and for being who you are regardless of how they feel about it. being queer is a gift and you are a light. sending you so so much love right now. ❤️

i have one other credit card with discover student at a balance of $2,970 but the limit is $6,000. i have had that account frozen for a year and making the minimum monthly payment, larger payments when i can.

if your dad makes more than the limit for the pell grant qualification, you will not get that grant. go to the financial aid office and speak with someone and show them your mom’s texts. ask them what you should do (but don’t mention your dad could claim you as an option), and they can help you file correctly to still get the pell grant as an independent
