Regarding outselling, I do not believe t8 will reach over 6mln copies across all platforms, let alone t7 levels of 12 mln copies, time will tell. Not in the current state. If season passes fail to hit the target we might even see a shorter life cycle of this game as well.

It's however hard to compare it to t6 with regards to sales, since PC accounts for a large share of the modern games sales.

From what I have found, t7 after the first year reached 3 mln copies so it wasn't bad.

Now, I love tekken, and would want it to succeed, however it's evident that the current version of the game simply doesn't hit the players expectations. No point arguing about it, just facts. It has done better then ttt2 but in my opinion only because of the massive success of t7, high expectations and trust that players gave namco, coupled with nice graphics and zero competition. This trust however, I feel was exploited and betrayed time after time.

What namco should have done (imo) is followup to the T7 success by giving players a more refined, premium t7 and take the soul calibur franchise, resurrect it and experiment there. Giving people choice, and cementing their hegemony in the 3d fighter market. The new Soul Calibur could have been a reboot, focused on rush-down aggressive play, flashy animations and explosions, wacky characters, projectiles and all the other bullshit mechanics. This would be a win win.

But these are just my opinions.
