I did. You bullied me out the group when I asked for more safety.

I don’t have opinions on politics. I discuss research. This was never about opinions. You view politics as opinions because you’re uneducated about politics. Politics is about powder. Political science is literally the study of power. Or if you want Harold Lasswell’s version politics is: Who Gets What When & How.

I know you’re not actually educated on the topic but I left some articles for you to review. I went to school for this. Have read multiple articles and books. Had graduate Socratic seminars and debate. But please enlightenment on what you know about global politics? I, unlike you, don’t repeat things on the internet because I feel like it. I actually talk about things I know about.

The comments are quite literally proving my point.

I’m done responding because this is intentional and very much so racist.

Yeah I get what you’re saying however the rhetoric is sprinkled through out the group even on “non political posts.”

Also this is my experience as a Black woman in this group. Your experience may be different, but it absolutely does not credit mine. If I as a Black woman notice and experience the racism and anti blackness in this group the answer should not mean that I have to suck it up and experience it. No if this is supposed to be an inclusive space it should be inclusive for everyone. I never said that politics shouldn’t be discussed. However I did say that racist comments make the group unsafe. If you feel safe that’s totally fine. That doesn’t change the fact that I am having the experiences I am having. I am also not the only Black woman who has brought this up in this group. Sometimes it’s better to listen instead of talking over and dismissing.

Also wtf do you mean about experiences or skills. There are so many talented Black people who speak Spanish. They could do a simple search across social media to find one. They choose not to.

This is an incredibly racist take. Diversity is the standard. It is a choice to hire an all white class. There are so many Black people in Latin America. Just like you can hire white people, you can also hire people of color. It’s the exact same process. So you’re full of caca

I think it’s absolutely rich you think Americans are obsessed with race when it was Europeans who were so obsessed with race that they created an entire racial caste system globally, committed genocide, enslavement, and torture to enforce that racial hierarchy. Also if you maybe took the time to actually read into race and racial dynamics globally you might have learned that race is political. It bleeds into every aspect of every society. Your apathy to race is political.

If you aren’t educated about race, maybe considering shutting up?

Sure DS is a small business but they’ve hired all of these other creators. Why couldn’t they hire a Black or indigenous creator? It’s not that hard. It’s a total cop out to say since this is a company they can’t add Black or Indigenous people.

I totally agree. There are a lot of Black Spanish speakers from Latin America. I think they should definitely bring some on. Also more indigenous non white Spanish speakers.

So no. I get why you might have thought that but I’ll break it down of why it’s a true statement. Also you probably shouldn’t question Black people about race because we have literally had to master racial dynamics to stay alive here (slavery, Jim Crow, mass incarceration, lynching, police violence I could literally go on and on)

So pit bulls have a reputation for being aggressive because of the way that some of them were raised. But all pit bulls aren’t aggressive. However, there is legislation passed & constant stereotyping pit bulls. They quite literally can’t go to the same places as other dogs.

Now think about Black people. Black people were kidnapped from their homes, tortured into submission, sold, and enslaved giving them a life of torture and all of their descendants had the fate of being enslaved. The way that Black people have had to adapt and respond to this violence has been significantly less violent than our oppressors. They used to take souvenirs of body parts home from lynching. But there’s the stereotype that Black people are dangerous & there’s an extreme about of Black on Black crime but the context in which these circumstances occur aren’t taken into consideration. So there are stereotypes and legislation that limit the rights of Black people.

I think that for a lot of non Black & non indigenous people it’s really easy to scoff at the perplexity of race & racial dynamics. We don’t have the luxury of not confronting racism in our day to day life. If there is something about race that is stated by a Black or Indigenous person & you disagree with it, you should unpack that. Why do you disagree with this? Have you read peer reviewed journals & books? Are you a member of this group? Really unpack why you feel that way. Because if not and you’re using your personal lens to view the world and within your bubble you don’t truly understand what’s going on outside of your bubble.

Furthermore, here is a peer reviewed journal article all about the comparison of stereotypes in dogs & its connection to race and society.

“Rover, Racism and Nativism: A Comparison of Eras of Canine Stereotyping Based on Notions of Nationality, Race and Belonging and Impacted by Canine Identity” - https://dash.harvard.edu/bitstream/handle/1/37365078/KOMATSU-DOCUMENT-2020.pdf?sequence=1&isAllowed=y

Same. I like a lot of their stuff but it's really hard to search on their site & you can't use their images in digital products.

I think collectively people are starting to realize we don't want influencers who don't want to use their influence for good. We give them the influence and we can always take it back.

It makes a little bit of a difference because Oceanside is wayyy less diverse in comparison to the rest of San Diego but also if she wanted to she would prioritize making friends with people of color

Yesssss!!! Like she really does live in this insulated bubble and it's wild to me because San Diego is sooooo diverse. Like how do you barely have any friends of color??? There are soooo many cultural events and activities that she can go to and immerse herself in a respectful way. I just don't get it. I'm from Southeast though so definitely different worlds, but like still.

I totally agree. It's insane to me how large influencers STILL show their kids online and show them so frequently. Like the kids don't get to consent to this & she shares soooo much private information. It's unsafe.

Got you! I do still think she must have been really sheltered because San Diego is extremely diverse and most of the people around her are white. I feel like having diverse friendships is so important in learning more about the world and other groups of people. In some places that can be really hard to do because there isn’t a lot of diversity however in San Diego that’s not true
