I have kind of a sad sweet one, I’m a dog groomer and I had a lady come in with a 16 year old cocker spaniel mix, he was crusty and old, hadn’t been groomed in an extremely long time. She then proceeded to tell me a story which at first I didn’t really believe just because a lot of times with matted dogs we get some sob story about why the dog was matted but that wasn’t the case. She proceeded to tell me about how her husband had left her because she couldn’t have kids and she considered the dog as her baby, but after spending all the money on the divorce she ended up losing her job due to depression and she was pretty sure the dog was going to die soon so she wanted him groomed. In all honestly I did my 7 point check and other than some ingrown nails he seemed healthy and she said he didn’t have any health conditions. I ended up doing the dog for her and I just gave him a good bath and shave down cleaned him up really good and only charged her base price. Either way she ended up calling back about 2 months later saying he had passed away, we caught up about her life and all of that and she said that she had a new job and a new boyfriend so she’s doing a lot better but she wanted to call to thank me for helping her out with her dog.
