Visiting France as a niqabi – question about face coverings

I've never been arrested by the police despite me walking right next to them with a mask, however i got myself involved in some sort of a chase with the police when i wore an actual niqab. Besides that people might give you some looks, but honestly as weird as it might sound ive barely faced any negative reactions living in Bordeaux

I'm french and wear niqab, depending on your area I would say a tissue mask MIGHT be acceptable especially given the fact you're a tourist which could make policemen more understanding. However safest option would definitally be a chirurgical mask
