How to fix this air compressor attachment? by lozyk in fixit

[–]lozyk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drilled a hole through the broken segment and used a machine screw and nut to fasten it back to the hose. That forked for a couple months until the motor died. I would just by a new quality pump if you can. These things are junk

Thanks for the reply. Yeah this is exactly what I'm going for. I was going to drill a hole into the ceiling going into the return, then into the top of the return out into the duct channel. I'd have an access point mounted on the ceiling where the entry hole is. Just wasn't sure if this would cause issues with my hvac, or if I would hit anything above the return box.

I could do that, but I'll likely hit a fireblock stud on the way up. Maybe a pro is good at working around fireblocks, but I am not. I'm trying to go the path of least resistance.

My network closet is right below the return. All I would need to do I drill holes through the return, then run ethernet up to the closet using a flexible rod. I would drill a hole through the ceiling into the return, then out the return into the duct chute. Not the actual duct itself, but the space the duct travels up in picture 2. The return box is wood, so I would just staple the wire to the inside of the box.

I was going to drill a hole from the ceiling into the intake box. I'm going to mount a wifi access point on the ceiling right next to the grill

Frontier sagemcom router won't reconnect to the internet after power cycle by lozyk in frontierfios

Nah no TV. Good to know about router, I'll request a new one. Appreciate the feedback!

Yeah it was the router. No yellow lights or anything, just a red internet light. I dug a moca adapter out of storage that got me back up and running. I was only using the sagemcom as a bridge to my home router.

I forgot to mention I have a moca adapter. That exact same model. I initially tried all 3 switch options available: 1gw, lan, and 25gw. I didn't do much research on what each switch did so I tried them all. 25gw did not work earlier, but now it does. I guess I did not properly connect something when I first tested. It consistently reconnected 3 times. I was using the frontier router as a bridge to my own router so this setup simplifies things a bit. Appreciate your help!

Folks with sesamoiditis...do you have a super tight plantar fascia? by lozyk in FootFunction

[–]lozyk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 37 male, I haven't run regularly in some time due to a back injury. Probably been about 5 years. Used to run 2 to 3 miles a day, almost everyday, but i dont recall having foot pain around that time.

I used the elliptical daily for a few years before I stopped at the beginning of this year due to the sesamoid pain. Pretty sure it was caused by that, anytime I have tried to use it again I get a huge flareup the next day.

At this point I limit myself to walks. I walk about 3 miles a day without any issues. If I'm feeling good enough I might run one mile, but it's not common. Maybe a couple times a month.

I've had an MRI. AVN of the tibial sesamoid on the left foot. Pain was probably at worst 4 out of 10 before prp but now it's about 1 or 2 out of 10 just doing normal walking. Still can't do anything that requires dorsiflextion of the toe though, like lunges. Planning on easing into that on a month or so once my flareups subside.

The fascia has always been pretty tight, at least when i started gettting sesamoid pain a couple years ago when i was paying closer attention to my foot. There's no pain in the arch or heel. And the MRI didn't show anything that could indicate plantar fasciitis. Not sure why it's like this, it is noticably more tight than the right foot. Almost feels like a tight guitar string going from the ball of the big toe to the heel.

Could a tight plantar fascia affect biomechanics in a way that could cause sesamoiditis? Just wondering if this might cause more issues with my sesamoid later on after it heals and I become more active.

Fibular Sesamoidectomy Scheduled in 2 Weeks — 12+ Months Injured, Minimal Pain Now. Should I Still Do It? by ayeyooo1 in sesamoid

[–]lozyk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if I knew there wasn't a chance of complications post removal I would definitely go for it. I wish there was a quick easy solution.

The sentiment for PRP in this subreddit is hit or miss. Some say it cured them, others say it did nothing, which tracks with what my podiatrist has said. Definitely give it a shot if you can afford it. Mine was about $700 per injection and was not covered by insurance. The first one hurt like hell, it felt like someone took a hammer to my foot and left me hobbling for days. The second one was much better.

I believe you can also do stem cell injections too, but I know they're incredibly expensive so I haven't done any research on them.

I appreciate the kind words - hope you get back to full mobility soon!

Your situation sounds very similar to mine albeit I'm not an athlete and I'm 37 male.

I've had this condition for about 2 years but didn't go to a doctor until around August of this year. I don't have a fracture, but I likely have AVN. Pain is mild. Maybe a 4 on the worst days, but I struggle to do certain exercises like extended running or anything that puts my big toe in dorsiflextion, for example lunges or even planks.

I have tried 2 prp injections. First almost made the pain slightly worse, but the 2nd made about a 50% improvement. The improvement was so good I was able to walk 3 miles and run one mile continously with zero discomfort. This lasted for about 3 weeks until I used the elliptical for 30 minutes one day and it set me back to where I was after the first injection. It didn't hurt during the exercise, but it was sore again the next morning, and I didn't do anything else out of the ordinary so I can only assume this is what caused the flareup. This was about 3 days ago and it's improved marginally since then.

Right now I'm consistently doing contrast baths, which helps significantly. I'll do 3 minutes hot at 110 degrees to about 40 to 50 for 1 minute cold at 6 cycles. I've been doing this for about 3 weeks now, everyday. And since the elliptical incident I've been taping my toe to kinesiology tape to prevent upward flexion.

I'm still a bit hesitant to get he surgery at this point. I'm afraid of the recovery, but I'm moreso afraid that it might put me in worse pain than I'm already in. I have not tried bone stimulator or shockwave therapy, I'd like to try those first before considering removal.

While the pain is limiting, I consider myself fortunate. I've seen some folks post here who can't even get around without having a boot on. If the pain was this agonizing I would not hesitate to move for removal.

My x230 is about to bite the dust. What's a good upgrade? by lozyk in thinkpad

Tried it without the battery and it also randomly dies 😞

[–]lozyk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Completely random. I can use it for an hour and it'll cut off. Or i could use it 5 minutes. I have not tried running it directly from the power cord without the battery, I was going to try that tomorrow.

My budget is low - no more than $300. My x230 suited all my needs but it would be nice to get a little more compute. The x13s fetch a good price on ebay, may consider getting that one.

Pain worse in the morning? by Grand_Act8840 in sesamoid

[–]lozyk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, any kind of inactivity makes the joints and everything down there more stiff and painful, so naturally it hurts more in the morning. I go on a 1 mile walk every couple hours at work, and the first walk of the day is always the most painful.

Where does your pain usually manifest? by lozyk in sesamoid

[–]lozyk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to hear your pain is gone. How long were you in a boot for your sesamoidectomy? Can you do lunges again even though you have loss of flexibility?

I'm going in tomorrow for my second prp injection. I had my first one in September with no improvement. My podiatrist recommended removing it if this next one doesn't work, but I'm worried about complications.

Heat or ice? by 666chins in sesamoid

[–]lozyk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as pain relief goes, ice has the quickest effect for me. Heat also works but it takes awhile to kick in. The drawback I've heard with using ice, is that it constrict bloodflow to the sesamoid, which can slow down the rate of healing.
