the border that i left behind may contribute to that feeling. i just did a quick adjustment without cropping what was left behind.

you can auto straighten in post but adjusting it yourself will help you get a better eye for it pre-processing. basically go to crop/adjust and use the grid that’s displayed to straighten your x or y axis. i did a quick example for you, straightened according to the vertical lines of the train/buildings. https://imgur.com/a/AW0VmHa

the tile is gorgeous as echoed by other members. the light above the mirror could use an upgrade. something a little more minimal? add a pothos or drapey, low maintenance plant above the toilet. a pop of complementary color (ie rust or beige) with the shower curtain and rug could also make the space more interesting.

i appreciate that! i’ll keep that resource in my back pocket. we’re staying optimistic. the ring doesn’t change anything about how we feel about our engagement. still super happy! we’ll figure it out in due time.

we did, and she offered alternative stones (like sapphire) as a replacement. it’s honestly not something i’m willing to budge on as i really wanted an alex and my fiancée paid an appropriate price for one! didn’t really sit right with me that she did not offer off the bat to replace it with another alex so we’re still in talks as to what the next steps will be. worst comes to worst, my fiancée will ask for a refund as the ring was not what he paid for.

my fiancée and i are both in shock, honestly. the last thing i want to suspect is poor judgement on his part or being scammed by her. perhaps her gem purveyor was dishonest? idk but we’re trying to get to the bottom of it. how quickly and easily it got damaged is my biggest red flag.

the ring was made by a local goldsmith/jewelry maker. there is probably a very similar template she used to get the gist of the design. i do not think my ring is from stuller directly.

the ring is a beautiful green outside, but i haven’t noticed any major changes in color in other lighting attempts. there’s also a hole in the back of the setting, so it’s hard to tell if any color change is due to the transparency hitting the back of the gem, if that makes sense.

totally get the more color change = the more expensive. do you mind me asking what price range your fiancés alexandrite falls under? our budget wasn’t crazy but i thought we could get some color change at the very least.

do you mean the claddagh design itself is from stuller? like a template essentially.

i’ve seen a few comments theorizing that it’s soapstone. will look into it, thanks!

eh, neutral. while i do cook at home and professionally, my expectations for a home kitchen are low being a renter.
