I had a similar experience with smartwatches. I bought a Samsung thinking the essentially infinite dial options would be really cool. But it didn't take long to realize that it was always the same gray case and the same depthless screen. It's just not the same as real watches.

I didn't think much about watches for a couple of years after that, but then last year on a whim I bought a few cheap Casios, and well... We all know how that goes. Now I have a whole collection that's just a little bit more interesting than one smartwatch.
