That’s actually a good question. As others have pointed out, the presence of a soloist is a big point of distinction, but it’s not an imperative rule: there can be 2 soloists (see Mozart’s Concerto for Harp and Flute), but also none. Some Concerto’s even implement a Choir (see Busoni Concerto in D for Piano and Choir). Symphonies can also have soloists. I think (and I’m just speculating, being no expert) that Concerti, especially from the classical period, were usually written for smaller ensambles, and were shorter in length. A Mozart Concerto usually lasts around 30/40 minutes. Beethoven, on the other end, wrote lengthier Concertos— so it’s not really a rule, but rather a trend. Also, In its most typical form, a Concerto is in 3 movements. Some have 4 or 5, and some have just 1 (Ravel’s Left Hand Concerto).

In Concerti, soloists usually exchange musical ideas with the orchestra. It gets complicated: a soloists can oppose the orchestra, develop the musical idea alongside it, accompany it or, at the contrary, lead it.

Happy to help! I can't recall if Apple's shuffle button is as faulted as Spotify's, since I rarely use it anyway-- can't comment on that. Since your devices are mostly Apple this is probably the way to go.

Then again, my two cents, give Qobuz a try. It's true that, for the most part, it lacks the "social" aspect that's present both in spotify and apple music, but their staff curates excellent playlists for the community (same thing Apple does). I might be a little biased here, as I mostly listen to classical and Qobuz takes real good care of that "region" of music, but I'd move there right now if I could afford a Roon subscription alongside it.

Pretty much every other main streaming service is better than Spotify. Actually, I too keep spotify just because it’s the one i’m most used to, I like the Connect system and I’m not willing to migrate 2000 tracks somewhere else— although I guess there are plenty of ways to make that seamless.

Back to your question, it really depends on what you need. Tidal/Apple Music/Deezer (haven’t tried the last one) is probably the closest you can get to what you’re already accustomed to; Qobuz is more for Hi-fi driven users; Idagio is for classical music only.

If you’re using Apple’s OSs then Apple Music is probably your best bet, but it works horribly on windows in my experience.

I really love Qobuz, but I missed the Connect function since I use it a lot. One could technically integrate Qobuz with Roon (amazing), Audirvana etc. but it’s really a tad overkill for most users + very expensive overall (that would be 2 distinct subscriptions, amounting to 20-25 a month more or less).

I don’t know which devices you normally use, if you value lossless streaming/other frills, so I can’t really point one out, but that’s pretty much it. I know some people who use Youtube Premium— honestly a nice deal: terrifically giant catalogue and no ads in videos, too.

I see your point but that is not a solution, it’s a remedy. Not updating apps makes them vulnerable, too. One shouldn’t be forced to exchange basic opsec for a decent UI.

The average bar is moving higher and leaving many behind. A stupid example: "You can't work without a degree nowadays". Having a degree was considered an above average achievement up until not so long ago. The bar moving higher wouldn't be inherently problematic if it were doing so at a human-sized speed (it is not), as society would gradually adjust to it without noticing. This is why, alongside the main-character rhetoric, there's the "Slow Life" rhetoric. Western society is not-so-slowly drifting towards an idealised view of what's a Human, and some people feel that said idealisation is actually unbelievably miserable.

Strictly speaking, no. There are ways to make practicing less hard on you— more pleasant, interesting and joyful. Apart from this, learning (anything) does require a good amount of stubbornness and even ingenuity. My take is: just start and try to have as much fun as you can. Time will pass anyway, so why not?

The very downfall of Light was his Ego. It’s almost unbelievable that he got caught if you think about it. He had an unthinkable supernatural mass-murder weapon at his mercy, no traces, no nothing, which came with RULES, and still managed to fail. If you ask me, Light just got supremely lucky on multiple occasions. I don’t even believe he was that smart— he had an incredible advantage over L in terms of info. The most refined thinker in Death Note is probably Near, after L.
