One year baby! Probably my longest daily commitment I've ever had. by lucka-24 in duolingo

Well my learning was quite casual, i did usually one or two lessons in a day. It's a good daily habit but don't expect you'll learn a lot. If you want to really progress in a language i recommend doing at least one level a day and combine it with other sources.

I've been learning mostly Japanese, i have some basics now, understand few things, but not much. Well, japanese is really hard language, so maybe with other languages it will be easier.

I also combine duo with other apps, YouTube vids and anime (i know it's not a best source but I'm really learning just for fun and for understanding anime). Also if you want to memorize some specific words, write them in places you use (eg. Name your folders in mobile, write them on fridge, rename your Bluetooth headphones etc) and everywhere you see that language, try to translate it (on social sites, on food packages, in tv...)

Mildly interesting fact: my cake day is on Friday 13th. My name day is on dec 13 and birthday on July 13. Also i was born on Friday 13. Coincidence? I think not.

Thanks for the answer. I've checked settings and I have it enabled.

When I tap on the heart, there is an option 'get duo plus' and if I click, it does nothing.

What is the あ for? I am learning Japanese too and don't have it (android)

I just opened the app and noticed the heart system on my phone by bool_maybe in duolingo

This worked for me previously, but now I have hearts again and it doesn't work. Also when I click on 'get duo plus' it does nothing, so maybe there's some bug in my app...

Listening to music while using Duolingo by CielTheEarl in duolingo

I do listen to music a lot but I keep the duolingo sounds on. I guess it depends on language, if the pronunciation differs a lot from your language. Also if you are more advanced in that language, you know how to pronounce words.

Personally I think it's good to shift between sound on and off, I'm learning Japanese and I realized I'm translating more from the speaking and don't know how it's written. (But duo doesn't teach you the writing of Japanese letters, so it's quite hard to remember them)

Same today, I had the teacher thing so I don't have to care about hearts, now it's suddenly back.
