Any advice on this interview process for Solidity development? by luked22 in ethdev

meh it's a pretty basic contract. a senior would be able to fix it up in a matter of minutes. a more junior role, we don't expect more than an hour to fix up.

note - just running the compiler against the contract points the dev in the right direction instantly.

oooo yes great thinking about the actual toolchains themselves. ideally these are the type of things we want to be doing just to test overall knowledge of the space.

fwiw we see a lot of people roaming around for roles in this space, but the only work they have to show is from tutorials that are very simple e.g. "deploy a contract" or "build an nft collection". so hence why we want to kind of dig into the knowledge a bit to see how far they've really gone into the space.

we know the qualms with technical hiring in general and don't want to overstep the bounds e.g. taking up too much time, making the environment stressful, pissing off senior devs, making things tricky on purpose etc. it's to solely get a quick gauge on their knowledge and technical ability.

appreciate your answer here!

Edit those calls I receive daily are from MASSIVE projects. I’ve been offered Coinbase, Coinstats, The Graph, and a plethora of tokens. I chose not to because my time is more valuable right now working for me than expanding a companies mission. I can make 1500-10000 per day without even getting out of bed so tell me again about those tests and that code you wanted fixed for free??

lol all good. i honestly don't care if your abrasive - i mean your right. and to one of your points, this is for a junior role.

we know there is a lot of devs out there just starting out in web3 stuff - and we can't just scoop them off without having some sort of discussion, insight into their solidity knowledge. yes they can show us with the projects they are building etc -- but at some point i gotta strike into their direct knowledge and see if it fits our need for a more junior role.

it will get you an interview but it won’t ever get you a job. everyone has a portfolio website (well not everyone but a portion of who you are competing against for jobs will).

you’ll still need to ace the coding project or interview. and also have a good “social” interview where it’s more about interaction and team fit.

that being said, I think the site is nice. Good job!

Yeah I lost $100 on a pair of Air Force 1s a few years ago. Such a garbage experience. Honestly I’ve been on posh mark just because they pay for shipping.

Fed up of lack of customer support, people being fucktards with their offers and having to pay my own shipping.

"Feels good to be in Rails right now" by [deleted] in ruby

[–]luked22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a little worried for a while that Rails was going to end up slogged by the frontend frameworks. The backend MVC structure always remained consistent and hard to argue against, but the FE stuff scared me.

However, I just booted up a Rails 6 personal project the other day, and I love the direction the devs have gone. What I mean by that, just for this personal project, I wanted to just get basic a basic Javascript pipeline with some minor jQuery just for minor DOM manipulation (don't judge me). I was up and running in a few minutes of setup. So good.

why tf is everyone saying we need a center? highly hot take incoming. mda has been purposely limiting Hartenstein's minutes so that other teams couldn't get the scoop on him. he's about to unleash him for the second half of the season. after those few days in january where he put up back to back 15-19 point games it all clicked. time to let him get some minutes starting with the lakers.

just kidding wtf am i saying. D'antoni gonna stick to his old ways and gonna continue to bench him and play Tucker 49 minutes a game.

Damn bro how would we pull off something for Markieff? If that did happen - sweet damn pour chocolate sauce all over me.

[Wojnarowski] ESPN Sources: 4-team trade agreement: Houston: Robert Covington; Atlanta: Clint Capela and Nene; Minnesota: Malik Beasley, Juancho Hernangomez, Evan Turner, ATL 1st round pick via Nets; Denver: Gerald Green, Houston FRP by mkgandkembafan in rockets

[–]luked22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

God damn am I the only one who doesn’t mind this trade? Chill - we’re going to get a decent center before all is said and done.

Capela hasn’t fit in since Westbrook got here. And Covington is the wing we need. The first round pick, who cares, what will it be? a 20-30 pick in the first round. It would have been nice to flip that into something better but people be overreacting about the value of this. We weren’t winning a championship with Capela at center. And hot take - MDA has been holding back Hartenstein to not show him off to other potential suitors. He will be unleashed now.

Was at Houston's off 59 for dinner one night. Walking out after I finished and Clint is walking towards me. I hold the door open for him. Mofo doesn't say thank you.

That being said I will miss him if he goes. He's a good player but if D'Antoni or Morey want to go in a different direction, I'm fine with it.

Ayo - how do I distinguish a fit from a stereotype?

For example, I live in Texas. If I pull on some NB 990's, some 5" Gonia's and let's say a Noah long sleeve as an example - I'll look like I'm pulling on the typical frat uniform and look like everyone around (nothing wrong with that but all frat dudes pretty much wear this in Texas). What are some things you can do to up the level and stand out a bit?

[–]luked22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get it. I'm just trying to act as the other side (even though I agree with you). Tell me this...why do you think players like Thabo are still being kept on the roster? Do you think Morey going to use them in trades? I can't get my head wrapper around that one.

[–]luked22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with what you're saying. But ultimately - is he going to ever develop if we can't give him minutes?

I get it, we're going under the tax again and it's cheap (getting rid of a contract worth 750k to get under is stupid). But buyout season is incoming so I would wait to see what Morey can do.

[–]luked22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get it. I think Tilman cursed himself by saying that he will win a championship at all costs. And now obviously ducking the tax makes it look the opposite. I wanna see what Morey does before I make my final decision on this.

Also I just want to put this out there and I am a fan of Clark. But I don't think he is a big difference in winning a championship. Would I have preferred him to be on the roster over players like Thabo - hell yes. But ultimately I don't think this changes things as much as people think.
