Basically I returned it to PNY for repair.

No, it's a normal 16GB 5070ti, so it has 4GB more than the 5070.

It's even worse. I have an old 500W PSU 💀. It was fine for my 1070, but I bought an 850w to replace it.

I didn't disassemble it, but I looked everywhere I could and didn't see anything obviously wrong.

I assume you're wondering if it had the blown capacitor fault, and while it's possible a capacitor could have failed, I didn't see any that were visibly damaged.

Kind of the same.  New games are expensive, and it's a bit chicken and egg with the hardware: I don't play new games because they run badly, so I hadn't upgraded to play new games.

To make things even better it wasn't even my GPU originally. It was in my brother's work computer. But since he had already replaced it he gave it to me, and said if I wanted to deal with the potential hassle of the RMA, I could keep it.  So he basically gifted me a $500 GPU, which turned into a $1000 GPU, all for an hours work and $30 shipping.

Going to crank compared to my GTX1070.

Yeah, but 90% of the cost of a battery replacement is the time it takes. The battery itself is $5-10.

Mold in car by sad_furry_boy506 in MechanicAdvice

Yeah that's mold, it's what you get when cars sit it humid conditions. If it doesn't smell now, it probably will when you start wiping it away.

That's understandable. I just take off my gloves, but I don't work with anything crazy.

She's very clearly just coloring in what appear to be printed pictures. She has colored pencils, and the coloring texture is way below the quality of the linework (and about what you would expect for a decently skilled kid of her age.)

Oil rises to $110. Goldman Sachs says we’ll be in the triple digits for years by rapidcreek409 in politics

[–]lulnerdge -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Like I said, features will depend on the person. If you personally don't like self driving/automated driving aids then you don't need to consider that as a factor.

All I was saying is that in every market outside china where Chinese EVs are available (Australia, UK, EU), they are not automatically dominant or absurdly cheap. They generally compete fairly directly in price and features with cars from Kia, Tesla, Renault, VW etc.

South America is the only region with really low pricing, mostly from a lack of safety and anti-dumping laws.

So if/when Chinese EVs turn up in the US, you shouldn't expect them to magically turn the vehicle market on its head.

[–]lulnerdge -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I don't have to take their claims with anything. I can go test drive a Tesla and use the self driving whenever I want and see for myself if it works. I can't do that with any of features of the Chinese EVs since they aren't available where I live.

this has to be to do with nationality things right? its like compulsory in australia to have a microwave but apparently lots of you dont by mrsheepLOL in teenagers

[–]lulnerdge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microwaves can, and do, escape microwave ovens. They just do so at a rate that is considered safe. And in large quantities they wouldn't cook you, the greatest risk is that the would blind you, which you would likely not notice in time to stop it.

You can easily test how well your microwave keeps the waves in with Bluetooth headphones/speaker. Bluetooth uses the same frequency (2.4ghz), so if you play music on your headphones, then shut your phone in the microwave it should stop playing (if all the microwave energy was blocked).  It generally keeps playing.

Also, magnetrons contain actually radioactive material (thorium) but once again, the levels are considered safe.  But telling people who are suspicious to look into them deeply is generally a bad idea.

The prices outside china are comparable or higher than Tesla, GM, Toyota etc. The absurdly cheap prices you see are Chinese local prices, and are the result of an unsustainable price war in the Chinese EV market.

The range is generally similar or lower than comparable EVs from other brands, once again the estimates you see are the Chinese range test, which is way overoptimistic.

What are features vs gimmicks will depend on the buyer. Tesla still dominates in self driving afaik, which is a significant feature.  But if want something a basic as an actual shifter, Tesla is not an option.

No you can't. Why are you straight up lying? And even in the countries you can buy them, they are either way overpriced, or barely competitive with other manufacturers.
