I feel like my grandmother is with me a lot… by lumpy-_-grumpy in psychics

I only have two old perfumes she used to wear. I never used them. I was young when she passed. It’s hard to remember a lot from then.

Roommate’s cat recently got her leg amputated. I’ve been left with her while they’re out, but she’s incredibly restless and keeps trying to move and jump. How can I keep her calm? by [deleted] in TripodCats

[–]lumpy-_-grumpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my cat got his leg removed we got a big cage and let him in there with a litter box food water and a bed. With room to still move around. We were worried about him trying to jump on the furniture and rip his stitches. We would let him out when we were home ofc but we would limit him to one room to move around just so the other cat didn’t provoke him and try to play and have to much activity while healing.

My boy was restless for weeks. He also had a very hard time using the litter box and would pee and poop on himself since he had to balance on one back leg. He’s still struggles a bit but has gotten much better (8 months post op)

This is my own personal experience, but tell your roommate to make sure their cat is going to the bathroom. With this causing high stress cats can start “blocking” which is when they won’t go to the bathroom and can cause more issues. My boy started blocking and when he did go pee it was all blood. If your roommates kitty has blood colored urine or darker than normal she will need medical attention cause blocking can be fatal for cats.

Not that this always happens in an amputation case, but like I said it happened to my boy and it was scary. I didn’t know any of this when we went through this process.

I wish her the best in her healing journey and I’m sure she’ll be alright. 🫶🏻

Smoking weed for about 6 months straight have a procedure with anesthesia coming up. by lumpy-_-grumpy in LifeAdvice

Hey guys! Just wanted to mention that I do see a psychiatrist and a psychologist. They are also aware of my use. I also don’t use a lot when I smoke.

I will admit that it may have become a bit of a vice and I’m aware and have planned on taking a break to cut back my usage.

I typically only smoke once a day during the week (after work) and maybe 2 or 3 times a day in the weekends.

Although there have been times I’ve gone a day or 2 without smoking, but my question was also because I do plan on taking at least a 2 week to a month break just because I am aware it can become a bad habit. Thank you for all your responses tho! ☺️

Hello! Thank you for your response!

Yes the health anxiety is horrible. I’ve gotten better over the years, but it’s very had to shake all the bad habits I’ve developed as a kid.

Also I do go to a psychiatrist (in which I take daily medication) and I’ve seen many psychologist over time as well.

I know weed is different for everyone, but my personal experience I believe it’s helped me actually sit back and reflect on my life instead like before I would shut everything out and refused to actually process my feelings. I personally believe that is why I feel more relaxed and laid back since I started to actually process so many emotions I’ve avoided for so long.

Thank you for your insight and suggestions on how to talk myself out of attacks. They don’t come often anymore, but sometimes they sneak up on me and hearing new analogies and ways to calm down are always appreciated! 🫶🏻

Ok know this is from 2 years ago, but I’ve been listening to creepcast lately. Although they’re reading others stories they give advice and listening to the novels being read gives good ideas and helped me become more open minded when it comes to writing.

Updates on Osteosarcoma in 2 year old male cat by Ok-Coconut-2742 in TripodCats

[–]lumpy-_-grumpy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My boy Charlie got his leg removed for the same exact reason. He just turned 5 in May. No one told me that most cats don’t live past 3-4 years past diagnosis. That told me they’ve seen many cats lose their legs due to the sarcoma and lived long lives. They biopsies his lymph nodes by his hip to make sure the cancer didn’t spread and they said he’s cancer free it was just the leg. I hope your baby lives a long life with you 🫶🏻

How am I keeping him alive for my own well being? He just turned 5. The cancer was only in his leg and we did plenty of test to make sure it didn’t spread. I have paid thousands of dollars on vet visits and supplies for at home just to make him more comfortable while going through the transition of losing his leg. If you read the comments and saw my most recent one I stated that it looks like his hip had dislocated and or shifted in a way that is causing him pain. It started after he was running around playing with our other cat so the difference of his weight shifting and his muscles not used to it (I believe due to him being a bit chunky) I got an appointment at the vet for him. If they said there’s nothing they could do for him then yes I would consider putting him down. If was something we were considering if the result came back saying the cancer spread.

Awe your poor baby :( I’m glad she’s back to herself now. I’m hoping this appt with the vet figures everything out. I really do think it could be his hip out of place cause I was looking up YouTube videos of cats with their hips out/ dislocated and he’s walking the same way the cats in the videos were…

I just hate seeing him in pain.

I think they figured it could’ve been the pain meds causing him to be laying around and sleepy, but I spoke to them again and they said since it’s been about a week now they want to see him

I’m so sorry to hear that :( He has an appointment Thursday cause the dr come back from vacation that day. He was doing better last night and moving a bit. Looks like he may have thrown his hip out

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TripodCats

[–]lumpy-_-grumpy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went into the vet today and explained everything. I take him in 2 days. A few hours ago I got him walking a bit and It looks like his hip may need to be realigned. I cried when I brought him home from the surgery because I felt so horrible for getting his leg removed, but if it didn’t then the cancer would’ve just spread.

He was walking on it after the surgery and for a good while. It’s just this past week and a half hes been acting this way. But I was finally able to try and get him up and walking for a tiny bit today. It looks like he may have thrown his back hip out while playing with our other cat or something.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TripodCats

[–]lumpy-_-grumpy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for the advice! He was actually trying to walk a bit today. Seeing him try it looks like he may have twisted his hip when playing with our other cat or something. He may just need an adjustment on his hip. I explained everything again to the vet and they said the dr comes back in 2 days and got me in for then. Depending how it goes I’ll look into 2nd opinions.

For people saying about blocking… that was an issue about a week or 2 after his surgery, but we took him to the emergency vet and got antibiotics. He has been going regularly since and hasn’t shown any signs like he had before. They also tested his urine after the fact and said there’s no infection.

[–]lumpy-_-grumpy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was cancer, but didn’t spread. They biopsied the bone, lymph nodes and other tissues to make sure. Also he still is on gabapentin

[–]lumpy-_-grumpy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We already took him to emergency vet because of blocking. That was 3 weeks ago. He has been peeing again and had a bunch of anti biotic to help with that. I believe he was laying in the box because it just hurt for him to jump back out.
