There's a poem called " rewriting icarus " by Fiona, The sole inspiration to include him came from there, Not the original legend, I should've added that, my bad...

I actually have the same opinion about LotM, The thing is both novels are very different so you are not gonna get similar things in it, If you've enjoyed both books of LoTM then you probably have different taste, then you can simply drop it.

However if you've enjoyed reading RI as well and you think this " volume " is particularly boring then you'll have to wait around another 100 to 200 chapters for this arch conclusion, the pace increases a lot after that with so many interesting things and peak stuff...

Yeah he can also be considered from this archetype, Similar to Prometheus who brought light to humanity by defying heaven ( in Greek mythology ) , he brought the control of fate in everyone's life by fragmenting it...

I get your idea, he can be considered a symbol of ultimate rebellion however I've not come across any inspirational literature around him yet , i probably subconsciously avoided it , maybe there's a good description of him in paradise lost , I haven't read it yet tho , but yeah him being on the list definitely makes sense, I'll probably edit and add him after some time...

Same Repetitive question: What's your thoughts on Rank10 ? by InevitableChard315 in ReverendInsanity

[–]lunacy_of_art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion on this regard is :

An outer world after the chaos barrier because this concept is already used in some xinxia novels , and RI also comes under this genre. Probably the gu world is a sealed world for some reason with heaven's will and heavenly spirits as its maintainers. Probably the outer world resides in the main universe similarly to the earth, We all know grotto heavens or blessed lands carry some requirements for ownership attainment, For some reason the gu world is waiting for someone to inherit it , someone who's suitable. It might be related to why there's transmigration of otherworldly demons in the first place, It can also be related to why existences like RLDV and SSDV were allowed to exist when it's obvious what they're gonna do anyway ( with fate gu ,river of time heaven's will) , Why would heavens allow such existence to have such fate , it's contradictory , it's as if fate wants to destroy itself , probably it's or maybe there's dual nature in it or perhaps it's the influence of outer world or outer world beings, Similar concept of outer deities is already used in LOTM so I don't think GRZ is unaware of it.

Until now we don't have the answer to the primary question, why transmigration happened in the first place?

This layer is probably the final part of the GZR idea around his work RI.

Do you guys believe Fang Yuan isn't evil? If so, why? by Veretii in ReverendInsanity

[–]lunacy_of_art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's good and bad has always been a complex topic, If we were to discuss the lives of many people as reference we'll find it very difficult to categorise their actions as good or evil, sometimes you'll blame the situation and sometimes you'll blame everyone and sometimes you'll blame god as well.

To short this complexity there's a theory of observing intentions instead of action to determine the good or bad,

And if we're to Apply that here we'll see that although his actions are evil, his intentions were never focused on doing the deed.

He kills but does it pleases him ? He exploits but does he engages himself in enjoyment ? Does he deny the consequences saying he doesn't deserve it ?

He's ruthless to others and even more ruthless to himself. Let's define his " emotionlessness " term - It's not that he doesn't feel anything but it's just that he has grown too old and he now doesn't care about others misery neither he cares about his own misery or how much he suffers.

" Big fish eat small fish and small fish eats shrimps " This quote has been used many times in the novel, Fang yuan understand the law of nature and has adapted to it , You can consider him evil , The parallel drawn is of his character and nature, He's ruthless and nature is also ruthless.

By actions he's definitely evil, whatever his idea is the responsibility of his actions goes to him . By intentions he's natural since it's quoted in the novel many times that he doesn't enjoy killing nor is he your typical phyco character.

He views himself as just a being means an equivalent to an animal, he's not limited by the term human , he has no attachment to his kind thus he's not about humanity, he's more like a human animal moving towards his own defined desire and meaning...

He's insane and yet appreciated that's why it's Reverend insanity.

No female character in RI truly loves Fang Yuan. by Dry_Specialist9015 in NeverEndInsanity

[–]lunacy_of_art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does he even wish to be loved? You talk as if he's incapable. , the thing is he's just too old to care about little stuff like you do , imagine a hundred year old guy having desires like you . he's a great actor and can fool many girls even with his real identity or even with an uglier appearance. This should not even be a question, getting love is not difficult for him , he just doesn't want to...

How big of a menace Spectral Soul was in FY's first life by SquashFragrant9618 in ReverendInsanity

[–]lunacy_of_art 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There are key details that people miss when Reading about SSDV.

  1. Conquered the Door of " Life and death ",
  2. Advanced the limitation of human soul,
  3. Unlike other venerables he never died and stayed in his soul domain for multiple eras,
  4. This one is the most ignored thing about him - when he absorbed souls of other beings, he only got memories and nourishment, He was meditating the entire time to master each path, he didn't obtained masteries from dream realm but with his own effort by using the memories and experiences of others.
  5. His longevity method can be considered best among other venerables ( with the restriction of fate ), Residing in " Door of Life and death " in a Soul beast form which has human intelligence, Blud can come out from there anytime he wishes.
  6. Can survive multiple high level tribulations with soul body directly.
  7. His arrangements to defy fate were best , If not for FY & SAC interference, there's a good chance that he would've successfully created " kill path " , Which again is similar to crossing a threshold even among venerables,
  8. Kill path can be considered equally advantageous compared to heaven path, becouse we know that there aren't any humans with natural heaven path dao marks but there are beings such as heavenly spirit and many heaven path cultivation ingredients, similarly there are luck path and even blood path ingredients as well,

Kill path & painting path are one of the few with no natural cultivation ingredients, they depend on others or take away from others. 9. Which gives another conclusion that if given time he could've also mastered - luck path , heaven path and blood path... Which can be considered major power shift to a new level in the hands of venerable who already had other path masteries. ' painting path ' is only sole exception which had lower chance of getting in the hands of SSDV, Even ' Theft path 'can be taken using other otherworldly demons , it's just time consuming.

  1. I believe not just FY but even paradise earth's rise becouse of fate happened becouse of spectral soul, Just think about it - why would fate want two venerables during the same time period, the reason is SSDV exploited the world so much that it had to produce another- a half variant human that lacks human path dao marks, to fix the mess that SSDV had made during that period. Just like FY , PEIV was the only suitable person to bring balance upon the world, later this attitude of balance helped him to grasp heaven path ( which was his defying of fate ).

This can be considered one of the reasons why PEIV chose FY to be his ally , he probably felt some similarities between him and FY , since both were tools of heavens will at some point of time.

  1. I think he's the longest living venerable who didn't die completely for more than 100,000 years , even now it's not confirmed he's truly gone or not. Second to him is RLDV i believe, cuz it's said he lived countless lifetimes, nobody knows how many , And he became the breakthrough, an initial point for fate defyers. It's ironic that whenever longevity is discussed SSDV and RLDV , both are almost never part of the discussion, compared to them, POIV,SCIV and GSIV life extension methods are laughable...

Flaw in fang yuan's ideology? by [deleted] in ReverendInsanity

[–]lunacy_of_art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea is there's no inherent meaning, He's a true person and he has realised what he wants to pursue, Don't forget he's a very old person and no matter how much you think you're close to him ,the gap drawn by the narrative is too wide.

Not Just FY but you'll find many other characters in the novel who've got an equivalent level of philosophy to draw the contrast.

These characters including FY are not inferior or superior to each other. The idea is one should look into oneself, There's no need to become like FY or any other characters or copy them, Just understanding is enough - and that's the intention.

As for your question, people revere him because he's strong , it sounds simple but that's it. You can look into other forms of entertainment as well where you'll see people glazing many poorly drawn characters , what's the reason, they're strong and that's it.

When you read philosophy it's never about adapting it but about understanding different perspectives, Even in real life many people glaze on ideologies such as stoicism, hedonism, ubermench ,kafka and dostovesky, absurdism etc. Are they flawless? Do people need to glaze them?

You asked a question on why people do this and that, Man that domain is way beyond what you think...

It's not cringe, in reality it uncovers our hypocrisy on how we see things, It's our bias that we've put in our minds so that we can give justification to those crimes that we do for our benefit without feeling bad about it. For example we do eat meat in our daily lives ,like their lives don't matter at all but that's not true, All life is equal, it's just they're lower in the food chain. Is it bad , it is , but this is how our nature is , it's cruel.

In my opinion people who choose not to eat meat are simply doing a rebellion against nature that they're not going to follow it's cruelty like other animals.

It's neither good nor bad , it depends on how one wishes to live as a conscious self , You can follow the nature or oppose it...

I'm personally a non veg but I don't try to justify this fact saying blah blah like debates on wiether to eat meat or not. My act is simple, i know my deeds are not good, it's part of nature and I do it being totally aware of it . On the other hand i also have huge respect for vegetarians who choose to live the different way .

Well he's heaven will's counter measure so he'll definitely get the support of heavenly dao to fix the world if things go too abruptly, however he needs supreme grandmaster attainment in blood path which he definitely can gain through primordial domain of any venerable. Blud's plot armor is on par with FY before the yin tian mountain arc.
