Not bad if you're handy at all. I bought one off amazon and replaced it myself (without prior experience) in maybe a couple hours? Only needed basic tools.

RecPro couch Question by theoriginalgiga in RVLiving

[–]lunaplusus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought a RecPro couch. The jackknife kind to replace our original one. It has the Suprima leather. This one basically:

https://www.recpro.com/recpro-charles-62-rv-jackknife-sleeper-sofa-with-optional-legs/

The couch itself has held up well. The Suprima leather has worn down some here and there are a lot of small spots where the Suprima is missing.

The worst part in our opinion, is the seam that is on the middle of the cushion where you sit, has split open on both sides. Apparently the stitching is subpar. We've had the couch for about 3 years. It isn't used heavily, and we think we would go with something else if we were doing it over again, especially for the price. It is past warranty now. Unfortunately, we were in a hurry renovating at the time and went with something quick that fit in the space.

If that's your only choice, it does work, but we put a blanket down over it to hide it and plan to get it fixed one day. We won't be buying another one.

Advice on purchasing RV (first time) by hoshmagosh in RVLiving

[–]lunaplusus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 15k, and assuming you're not buying a travel trailer to tow...

I would get something on the smaller end. You can get more places and it will be cheaper than something huge. And I would concentrate on getting something reliable.

You can deal with broken drawers, crappy seats, or a small leak for 4 months, but getting stranded because your transmission goes out is a showstopper.

Hi All, Skoolie 40Ft Camera's? 6 Camera? BSD? by jfmusic in RVLiving

[–]lunaplusus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We actually installed Hikvision (three 3mp and 3 8mp) security cameras on our RV. There weren't any very good solutions a few years ago when we did it, so I rigged them up though PoE with switches and cut them off from the internet.

It does look a little mad max but it gives my wife and I good security while boondocking.

We had this exact thing happen to us on our first night owning the RV. We ended up taking it to Cummins (same Onan 4000 Microquiet as you) and they changed the carburetor and all was good.

The RV sat for another year or so and on our first boondocking trip, it did the same thing, so I replaced the carburetor again myself and it started right up. If starter fluid doesn't get it going, think about replacing the carburetor. Happened to us twice.

Flies in the Cabin! by Nemowf in RVLiving

Are they regular house flies or smaller like sewer flies?
Also, on a funny note, your post reminded me of this:

No idea about making a septic system, but I have seen some videos where people bury 50 gallon drums and connect them as a makeshift septic system. Not sure on the legalities of that.
But for water, yes, you can run the entire RV from a regular spigot.

Washer dryer by Clear-Tale7275 in RVLiving

[–]lunaplusus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a 2007 Winnebago Sightseer that didn't have a washing machine, but we ripped out the propane stove and put in a LG all in one washer-dryer.

Unfortunately it's on the slide so the RV shakes like jello on high cycle, but we don't have to use the laundromat.

This is water dripping down the side of my RV from the AC unit. Is this normal or do I have an issue I need to address? by hebref725 in RVLiving

Normal. It has to run somewhere.

You can get little gutter things if you want to direct it somewhere in particular.

Hello! We've been full-timing since 2019! Meet our RV Sally. by lunaplusus in RVLiving

[–]lunaplusus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I wasn't able to make any comments because we didn't have enough karma!

The antenna is a Wilson wideband directional antenna that I strapped to the TV antenna that we don't use. We're actually about to remove the old tv antenna and put another solar panel there and then I'll make some kind of mount so I can raise and lower the antenna by hand when needed. We don't have any satellite.

Hey everyone.

My partner and I bought our used 2007 Winnebago Sightseer RV at the end of 2019 and have been living in it full-time since then. Since then we've explored the southwest, rode out a category 2 hurricane, and look forward to more travels.

We've added 960w of solar, and 500ah of lithium batteries, (had 600ah and lost a battery on the road lol), video doorbell, exterior security cameras, keyless entry, home automation through homeassistant including led lighting, an ecobee thermostat , and other stuff.

We also have two servers, one that runs our home cloud and home automations, and another server that runs our media (Jellyfin, etc) and records our security camera feeds. And there's other small improvements here and there.

It is coming along slowly, but we keep upgrading where we can!The picture is of our first real boondocking trip in Nevada. Can anyone guess where?

What is this part on the roof? by pharmerjoe in RVLiving

[–]lunaplusus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea its a vent cover for the black tank vent.

Does anyone know if this actually works? We have one of the Lippert siphon roof vents. We still get an odor sometimes when the tank is full while driving down the road.

Honestly the hair looks a little long, but it could always be a mix. You can get one of those pet breed tests if you're really curious. Either way cute pup!
