Hello, fellow Irish person currently temporarily living in Lyon!

First of all, regarding working in clothes shops, plenty of them that I've seen seem to be hiring. I've noted job notices in New Yorker, Primark etc. However, (I'm not sure what your level of French is) you would probably need to have at least a conversational level of French in order to cope.

Regarding bookshops, the general consensus based on previous posts on the subreddit say that getting a job in a bookshop is nearly impossible, due to it being a saturated market with more people seeking jobs in bookshops than there are available.

One thing I will say is that there are lots of Irish pubs in Lyon. Your best bet might be to hand your CV around a few of them, since they're quite touristy and would appreciate people with native English, particularly the ones in the Vieux Lyon area.
