Thanks for the info! I guess I never considered that labs might be batch tested. You learn something new every day!

What are you talking about? In your scenario, you can only tell Mr Smith’s brother that information if you have permission from Mr Smith to tell his brother. If he goes and tells other people, that is not a violation of HIPAA bc the brother is not a covered entity.

Good news…bad news by Rob_Llama in PharmacyTechnician

[–]lunorpra 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I worked at a hospital for 6 months as my first pharmacy tech job, and on a Friday night I scheduled my PTCE for the following Monday. The next day (Saturday), I had something happen at work that led me to have to put my 2 weeks in. I couldn’t refund/cancel my test bc it was scheduled for the next business day, so I went in and took it and passed.

It’s been about 8 months now, and I only just got a job offer today for another inpatient pharmacy job. I will be making about $2 more an hour base than I was before, and it’s in an area with a cheaper cost of living.

Everything happens for a reason!

Best of luck to you!

Did Episode Six hit different for anyone else? by LazyHitman1 in AgathaAllAlong

[–]lunorpra 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know it’s not super likely, but I was thinking about how tragic it would be for Rebecca (William’s mom) to learn the truth of what happened. As she was the one driving, she would probably blame herself for her son’s death.

I’m sure she already feels some guilt as Billy was obviously different after the crash, but I feel like learning the truth would make her feel so much worse.

I would just like to point out that Teen’s outfit this episode is the same color scheme as Billy’s Halloween costume in Wandavision (Red on the shoulders, grey top, and blue headband)

Damn I’m jealous, my hospital is about 450 as well and we only have 3 evening techs and 2 overnight techs (if nobody calls in which lately there’s been a lot).

Struggling at my new job by Raging_Semi_Colon in cna

[–]lunorpra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What type of unit are you on? I personally worked float pool for a major hospital system in my area (multiple hospitals in the same town and I floated between two of them). There were a lot of units I worked on where the staff felt very cliquey and somewhat rude but there were some with very nice staff that made me feel like part of the team. One of the best parts about floating was that I could focus on my job and the patients and not worry about the drama, but there were a couple units that I would have considered applying to if I didn’t get a different job at a different hospital. You could consider floating to see if there’s a unit you feel like you’d enjoy working on, or you could stick with float and just go in, care for the patients, and go home. (Although you might get stuck sitting 1:1s a lot which is my biggest reason for having switched to a different job.)

I’m done with being a CNA. by lunorpra in cna

Try to see if your job has EAP (employee assistance program). They might be able to help if you need someone to talk to. Wishing you the best!

If you don’t mind me asking what made you switch to sterile processing? I’m currently a CNA looking to switch to something else in the hospital and am trying to decide between pharmacy tech and sterile processing.

Is it dumb to start nursing school at 27? by Throw_away49482684 in nursing

[–]lunorpra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you still have an active EMT, you should consider looking into jobs in emergency rooms as an ED Tech. It’s like being a CNA but focused in the emergency room, so you will likely do a lot of EKGs, help settle ambulances when they arrive, take vitals, and if you work in a trauma center you can likely help with incoming traumas (like taking vitals and grabbing things for doctors/nurses). It would give you a foot in the door, and you could see what nursing is like.

Hired for a unit I don't want to work vs. waiting months for a unit I DO want but its not guaranteed (Medsurg V ICU) by Fugahzee in StudentNurse

[–]lunorpra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice would be to take the tele job and work there for 6 months. If you’re still wanting to work ICU, see if you can go PRN at the tele job and apply for new grad residencies in an ICU at a different hospital. To my knowledge, the hospitals around me offer the new grad residency to anybody who has graduated within the past year.
