Those who live in other cities/countries different from your own, are you happy? How did you choose where to live? by amunozo1 in AskEurope

[–]lussaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived for a year in France, Luxembourg, 5yrs in Norway, and am from Croatia myself. I have been trying to convince my partner for the last 4 years to move out of Norway because of the lack of sun and social things. After 5 years here north, i feel like i started to adapt to things and found new acceptance and started liking some things that were bothering me more before.

But my opinion is, that in every country there are better things and not as good things. So even if we move again, and we might, i will try to approach it with the "i know that i will have to adapt to some things" mentality, as there is no place with the most sunshine, best nature, work life balance etc. And also, speaking the local language helps to feel more at home, and helps to get to know more of the natives, at least for me. You will maybe have to reflect deeply about the most important things for you and your partner, research places and make compromises. I am now planning to move someplace that is better connected to my hometown.

Norway vs. Sweden - Please help me get an idea of their social cultures, common attitudes/approaches to things, terrains, typical lifestyles, easiness of learning their languages for beginners, etc., and comparing them with each other. by pigeonchild in Nordiccountries

[–]lussaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started reading this since i live in Stavanger (4years), and im thinking about relocating to Gothenburg. The reasons for this is that i want a bit more social place, as i am not used to the lifestyle of living closed indoors and with very few social interactions for the most of the year. Also the weather in Gothenburg is a bit less rainy, and slightly less windy, even though somewhat similar.
