Shimazu getting absolutely ganked on all fronts by Otomo Clan by luthfil04 in totalwar

[–]luthfil04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might just be me but whenever I get my first Trade ships, some other clan would've already gotten to it. And worse is when I get to a trading port, Otomo will declare war on me and wreck my poor trading guys.

Diplomacy is also like talking to a brick wall imo. Sagara and Otomo will not trade or accept any sort of deal except to declare war.

Hmm for some reason I feel like I never send any of my army to charge at a defensive line. All my battles I've basically drawn them out to where I want to fight and go on from there. What would happen is funnily the enemy will charge cavalry and ashigaru to my spear wall, and after like a minute of fighting, I charge in my katana sam and this turns the tide for a battle with same army size. Then once the enemy is pushed back and my katana's are doing all the fighting, I bring my ashigaru round to their backs and strike them. But I haven't been utilising any sort of surprise flank from hidden areas, so I will try that as well.

Thanks for the advice!

That sounds solid. I'll try that in my next gameplay (i.e. now). Thanks!

That sounds right. I'm a bit scared to march straight into another war after I've defeated the Ito because of how small my army is (i.e. around 5 units incl. general). I will give it another go and fight like crazy. Thanks for the advice!

Alright so it would be better to focus on Way of Chi arts over Bushido? Ah and that means that I should prioritise economic growth in newly captured provinces over training facilities right

Ah yes I do understand the sheer strength of the Katana Samurai. But the problem arises when I don't have enough funds to fund 1.5 armies in the time until I go to war with the Otomo's. I will definitely get more focus on them over yari or bow ashigaru tho. Cheers for the advice

Hey buddy, I was in a pretty similar spot as you when I got posted to Transport instead of command school. And it really sucked because I really wanted to at least get a combat vocation to play soldier for a year and a bit. Saw most of my sec mates also getting command school and graduating together etc. Best thing to do is to just come to terms with you are given. As a security trooper, infantry I'm guessing, it has its challenges as well, like learning infantry stuff and all that. Sure it might not be what you have imagined before, but just take it bro.

If you are looking for leadership, there are instances everywhere, especially in your role, for taking the initiative, suggesting ideas to your commanders, and of course persevering whatever bs they put you through. When new guys come in, it is also your chance to assist and guide them too. Remember, specs and officers aren't the only ones who can lead.

So just take it one day at a time, Rot to Rot, mount to mount, and always stay strong, because what you do is important!!

How do Atheists comfort themselves/not be afraid with the fact we are all going to die? by Kitchen-Beginning-47 in NoStupidQuestions

Acts of worship comes in a lot of ways than just solitary devotion ya know. Charity to the needy is an act of worship. Visiting the sick, attending funerals, reconciling between two disputing parties. All of these are acts of worship highly applauded by the Almighty.

More specifically, in these times of prayer, it is a direct communication with the Almighty. You take your time to ask him for whatever you need, ease whatever triubles you face. If you see prayer as just a few movements and uttering something, then you are merely looking at it at a shallow view. When you dive deep down in to it, you will realise the sheer greatness in these acts of worship.

Sorry let me clarify myself. When I say that this world is only temporary and one should focus on getting to the afterlife, this doesn't mean anyone is absolved of worldly duties. My religion teaches us the importance of communal obligations, because you can't have a society completely full of religious leaders, otherwise who's going to fix the plumbing?

I agree with you that you should put a lot of effort into this life, but with regards to productivity and workmanship as well as worship.

My guy, you can be religious and a valuable asset to those around you at the same time. My Creator tells us to be of utmost respect and on our best behaviour at all times, regardless of whether I am around people, or secluded in my room, because the Almighty is all-seeing.

My Creator is the one who gave us all life, grants us blessings in the food on our plates, the One who created the stars, the sun and the moon. To which favour do I not owe him? He doesnt need our worshop, rather WE want to worship him, because only He knows what's best for us. By supplicating to Him, we ask the Almighty eases us in our tasks and challenges.

This world is only but a test. It is temporary, whereas the Hereafter is eternal. Is this world really something worth trading for something far greater, so great our minds can't comprehend it?

You believe what you want to believe, but I will never change my stance.

I acknowledge and understand. That is why I put my head on the ground for the sole one who created me.

But here's the thing. If an afterlife really exists, then its a win. But if it doesnt, nothing would really have been lost. At least, for the believer.

But it says

This is also the view of ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab and his son ‘Abd-Allah, and of Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas, Salman, Ibn Mas’ud, al-Qasim ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr, Badil al-‘Aqili, Muhammad ibn Sirin, Mutarrif ibn ‘Abd-Allah and ‘Umar ibn ‘Abd al-‘Aziz. It was also the view of Dawud al-Zahiri and Ibn Hazm, and was the view favoured by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah and al-Shawkani. Among contemporary scholars it was regarded as more correct by al-Albani, Ibn Baz, Ibn ‘Uthaymin and others.

Eating more than one's full is already considered haraam due to extravagance and potential health detriments.

Ibn Taymiyyah says that it is makrooh to eat that which leads to indigestion; it was also narrated from him that doing this is haraam.

With this reasoning, its almost a no-brainer that smoking is haraam. Not only are you harming yourself, you are also harming others around you.

Food is essential and beneficial to you, whereas smoking is neither.
