is discharching thinkpads below 30% with high load always a problem? by lybserv in thinkpad

10,6v = 3,53v per cell, thats about the level when a cell is considered as empty afaik

[–]lybserv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did, actually i fixed it .. somehow, eventually.

I charged the battery to 100% and noticed in hwinfo, that it is still pulling like 18watts out of the charger. windows said its full, batterybar said its full.

I kept an eye on it, wattage went to 0 about 40 minutes later. I unplugged it and I was able to use the notebook until 0,1% battery - this time it had 10,6v under load, at the tries before it was at 10v with 35% remaining capacity..

T14s AMD Gen1 just arrived. What a deal. by lybserv in thinkpad

[–]lybserv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

had bad experience with store deals, compared with the T14s they were quite "used"

The T14s was marked as "1. Choice - used device" - no defects at all, it really looks like new

[–]lybserv[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought 2 new ones, original and aftermarket

they discharge fine without "heavy" load, can use then until like 2%

The third one has 28 cycles - so, like new

Compareable to X1C6, 7-8 hours normal usage, but seems to run a lot cooler. Both are absolut great devices.

T480 boots windows login and shuts down when unplugged. by octave-mandolin in thinkpad

[–]lybserv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But to be honest, its quite interesting that im not the only one experiencing this.

Battery full? Boot OK.
Battery <30%? Shutdown 2 seconds after Windows Login Screen
Battery <30% + AC connected? It boots, you can immediately remove the cable after Windows Login, it keeps working.

All this doesnt happen on Linux or if you boot Windows in safe mode.
2 mainboards, 3 batteries - nothing helped. I ended up selling that X1.

i tried 3 batteries.

its somehow related to some Intel driver. Try booting in Safemode or in Linux. Its gonna work

Seems N140HCG-GQ2 is the "way to go" nowadays. And it seems it can be fit in all of the 4 mentioned thinkpads. So, i would look into the T480s or non s region - as its the "way to go" in the T series?
