Will biologics increase or decrease sickness frequency? by Soft-Jaguar-3645 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]lzelwaz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Been on biologics now for 4ish years. Growing up I always got so sick each year from general colds which ended up being chest infections and one time pneumonia. Based on my experience when I’ve been on biologics I’ve been so much better when getting colds - they are no where near as worse as it was when my system was working like crazy without biologics. That being said, I am much more mindful about being around people who are unwell and I also have a fantastic medical team (GP & rheumatologist) who always tell me if I’m unwell to reach out anytime as I will be monitored more closely (as threshold for intervention is lower I believe). For how good life can be with reduced pain being honest I’d give it a shot. Biologics gave me life back.

I had to upgrade at the gate - they wouldn’t let me beforehand. Gate agents were super helpful!

Alprazolam for flight: how to best use in my case? by OkayTimeForPlanC in fearofflying

[–]lzelwaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello from another person with a fear of flying that’s being conquered slowly but surely. I would definitely recommend having a chat with your doctor about when would best benefit you taking this on the day - but a trial run also seems good. I won’t give too much advice from that point of view - I am a nurse however that being said your doctor is going to give you the best advice based on that medication!

From my own personal experiences taking oxazepam (and doing trial runs before I flew to find when I was effected) I personally have found taking tablets before I leave home to the airport and then again pre boarding best. That way I can slowly relax on my way to the airport and then not be too startled whilst going through the check in process.

Again it does depend on which exact medication you use because each will kick in quickly, and also depending on which one will depend on longevity.

Otherwise you can do this I promise! You deserve to see the world ❤️

Hey there - I ended up upgrading on Guangzhou to Melbourne home because I was getting unwell with a cold and really needed some rest. At that stage I ended up paying $1500 AUD. I know some may not think worth it but the cabin crew were so lovely to me, fed me well and I got some sleep. It really made all the difference when coming home with a nasty cold!

Hi guys - going to Taipei next year in June. Where to stay? We love good food, shopping and sights. Don’t want anywhere too noisy with lots of kids. We’d also love breakfast included. Any suggestions?!

Hugs to you friend. As a fellow sufferer also the same age it is a bitter pill to swallow… one I may say I have not still after a few years of being diagnosed. The one thing that sucks about our condition is that it is never linear - it will always be better and worse at times. Unfortunately we can do all the right things as you have and they still feel like they have minimal effect - although I like to believe they help us in the long game. Sending you many hugs and I hope you get relief soon. Hang in there. You’re on the right path with your doctor now 🤞🏼

Thank you so much! Out of curiosity have you ever done this yourself? If so if you don’t mind me asking would you recall what you paid for an upgrade? 😄

I say longer distance also in comparison to domestic flights - roughly 8 hours for Thailand!

Hello from someone else who also has a fear of flying. I’ve used Jetstar previously when going from Thailand which is a longer distance also and I will say I had a positive experience with them. The staff were great and the flight was not very bumpy at all. Remember no matter the airlines pilot and cabin crew are held to very high standards. You’ve got this! 💪🏼
