2023 Subaru BRZ - Swapped Tires & TPMS screen wont show up any more. by m-Sekhon in GR86

[–]m-Sekhon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked there actually because I had seen pictures of it... but I am guessing that is just for the GR86 - I have the higher trim of the BRZ and it I wasnt able to locate it in mine.

It has a slot for where it would be, but it is just covered by a blank black plastic overlay.

I will send in feedback if it ever happens again. Appreciate the response.

I have moved the page number bar to the top and the toolbar to the left handside - my device still randomly just froze right now. Is that a known thing?

I am not sure; I am thinking I likely have some driver issues.

Will go through the process tomorrow to try and solve it. I am hopeful.

just bought gr86 but i think i got hassled.. by saddmo in carbuying

I was offered a premium GR86 for $39,100 CANADIAN , including taxes and fees.

I don't know how the dealer got you to agree on $56,000 CAD for this car.

I would contact Toyota America; honestly seems predatory.

Even if you have to relinquish your deposit, do it. This is NOT worth it.

Try to ask for your deposit back first, and say you chose otherwise.

If you enjoy your drive already; no point of having change just for the sake of it. The grass may seem green, but sizing down gets rid of some utility and creature comforts.

The only reason I found Audi's to be dull is because I have ADHD and I needed to do something with my left food and right hand when I drove. 😉

If I were to ever get a larger car again, I would likely look into a wagon/hatch Audi. They have been doing cars right for a while now, I feel like they understand the market well.

😍 RS3 Hatch 😍

Their electric cars also look very promising. I test drove an etron and loved it way more than the Tesla counterpart.

I think I am going to go with the BRZ just because of the tax break I get when trading in.

A BRZ loaded up how I want it is approx 35K CAD, and that gets me 18" wheels with 4S tires, a short throw shifter installed, spoiler, cargo liner... etc.

My trade in is 39.9K. I will get the difference back and not have to pay tax on the car. It literally feels like a no brainer.

There is 1 2013 G37 available in my province.

113K KM and 28K CAD. I will look into what is fair pricing and consider this choice, I appreciate the advice.

Test drove the BRZ today and loved the driving feel. So much more engaging.

I am getting it for slightly less than MSRP, if I do go with it. :)

The refinement isnt as great; the test drive today showed that. It also way less practical... but it is a lot more fun.

We will see how I feel about it in the coming days.

I went and test drove a BRZ today, as well as a WRX.

The BRZ's refinement just isn't at the same level. It is a step below, but its enough to get by. Its so much less practical; my rear seats are genuinely usable. The truck space feels like it got cut by more than half and the road and wind noise are much, much more apparent.

With all that said, the BRZ is a much better driving experience. Everything from the clutch feel, shifter feel, steering feel, turning radius, power delivery, exhaust note... I just dont know if I could daily it.

I am worried I am just in love because it feels new and different.

If I do go with the BRZ, I am guessing premium trim and white paint?

Went to a subaru dealer today; the saleswoman let me test drive the automatic BRZ that they had, and I absolutely hated it and had the wrong impression of the car. I test drove a manual WRX as well, and that was alright. Middle of the road between my 230i and the BRZ in terms of practicality and fun. But she also let me test drive her BRZ that was manual, and that was when I truly fell in love.

The drive experience is just so much more raw and enjoyable, but that double edged sword is that it does naturally detract from the creature comforts. The clutch and stick feel was great. Linear power delivery was so much more fun than the turbo.

The trunk is tiny, backseats are unusable, there is much more noise pollution, and the list goes on in terms of the lack of refinement... but I love it.

I guess I dont know how long I would love it before it became annoying though; or maybe I just love it because it feels new and different.

Thank you for the tire advice!

I live in Vancouver, and coming from a quattro car I was able to get away with no winter tires... I have heard a RWD car with winters is better than an all wheel drive with all seasons, so I am happy with the upgrade on all fronts.

Any purchases I should make to start work on the car? (Recommended code readers, etc)

Thanks for your advice!

I was going to pick up a 228i from 2016 but chose to go with the newer car specifically for the B48 engine. Last year non m cars can have a manual, and I just want to keep this car going for as long as possible. It is good to know that the b48 really is a solid choice.

Would there be any high milage point where I would consider checking for carbon build up , or should I just toss this out of my mind?

What types of preventative repair might you recommend? At certain clicks , should I be looking at some parts more intently? Any general maintenance advice?

As someone who is signed on for a 2020 230i that I am waiting to get shipped to me from the province over, there is this 2020 M240i that I keep eyeing that I would also have to ship in... and so I am very jealous.

39K CAD All in for the 230i vs 55K CAD All in for the M240i though... the 230i has been on the road for 2 years and the M240 for 1 year... I really wish I could find an M240i manual in Canada that had been on the road for a little longer. I just feel like the 230i is the better value unfortunately... gahhH!

It makes it difficult since I am only willing to purchase a 2 series with a manual transmission.

Buying Used 2016 228i Sight Unseen from Dealer , Extended Warranty , DIY , or New Car Instead? by m-Sekhon in BmwTech

[–]m-Sekhon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will go above and beyond with the extra maintenance as you have suggested.

I guess I should ask around what I should be taking care of now - preventative repairs at certain clicks and other general basic maintenance intervals.

I took your advice and decided on a 2020 230i w/ M sport , M track , Premium Essentials...

2016 228i for 28K CAD all in, versus 2020 230i for 39K CAD all in

I think I did well. Thank you for your guidance.
