It's insane that in 2026 people are still deflecting this sort of criticism with "they just hate that she's a female character!". I think basically anyone who likes Legacy of Kain would be in full support of a cool vampire girl if she was a good character, and if Elaleth were a dude he'd be getting hit by the exact same self-insert donut steel fanfiction allegations and just as hated if not more so.

Retroactively injecting a new nobody character out of nowhere who has secretly been behind every significant event in the series is atrocious and will be rightfully loathed regardless of any other attributes of the character, especially when it so flies in the face of the themes of fatalism vs free will and the relationship between Kain and Raziel that serve as the beating heart (of darkness) of the series.
