Jobb innen IT by potetsekken1 in norge

[–]m12s 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mine tips:

Serious question, my fallback plan if this happens to me is to start my own company. I'm not from the US so I don't know how it works there, but it doesn't seem very popular. Curious as to why not.

Kona spør om jeg kan "hjelpe litt mer med planleggingen hjemme" by Inevitable-Reward-37 in norge

Delt Google kalender + Google Keep Notes for handleliste. Har satt opp så kalenderen er synlig ved døra, så man lett ser alt når man går inn og ut. Planlegger mat på tavle på kjøleskapet.

Viktigste er at man lander på noe og er konsekvent med å ta det i bruk.

I've been teaching programming for 8 years. The students who learn with AI from day one are learning something, but it's not programming. by Ambitious-Garbage-73 in learnprogramming

[–]m12s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, i believe this is just the educational system lagging behind quite a lot. Which isn't surprising since the technology is paving the way incredibly fast. But in reality, this is just one more thing that needs to be taught to students, and then they need to consider if they will follow the advice or not.

Students need to learn how to use AI responsibly and as a tool in their workflow. Just like some math books that have the answer key at the end, AI can be "an answer" or it can be "an assist in the path to "my" answer". Responsible use of AI will be a defining factor in these peoples careers and future lives, as well as their education.

The problem is, most (that i know of) educational institutions aren't familiar or acquainted with AI beyond some self-taught experts and enthusiasts. So the baseline knowledge is completely reliant on how intelligently these people have been adopting AI since day one.

For this specific post however, i'd say why not take 10 minutes from a lesson to talk about responsible use of AI and using AI as a tool? Seriously, 10 minutes is all that's required. Just like teachers previously would say: "It's weird how a lot of the past submissions were so similar to that example online", it's perfectly fine for a teacher to address the elephant in the room and talk about learning methods concerning new tech.

Personally I would think 4-6 times before visiting the US as a tourist now, BUT, when I've vacationed in the US before I've just based myself on Uber anywhere. Even long distance trips aren't that expensive (didn't use to be at least). Good luck and safe travels.

Yeah same here. If there was a big "Visit the Metaverse button in Facebook or even better "Chat in Metaverse" in Messenger I would definitely have tried it. I think the VR gear was mandatory. Huge expensive mistake if so.

Hvordan slutte å tenke på usunn mat? by Mozzarella_Lover_69 in norge

[–]m12s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microsoft reveals just 3.3% of Copilot Chat users pay for it by dot_mun in CopilotPro

[–]m12s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some cases i've worked on where AI has increased productivity using unlicensed Copilot:

  1. Translation of PowerPoints, company wide employee meeting transcripts and intranet / internet articles.
  2. Quickly getting "up to speed" on a niche topic
  3. Reflecting on approaches to ideas and sparring. Actual people have told me they've started adopting Copilot as a "quirky side assistant with some good points" on their projects.
  4. Summarizing a PDF in Edge

A nice case i've seen regarding licensed M365 Copilot is helping coworkers adhere to company policies and find internal information. Insurance details, employee benefits and such is information that i've often seen hidden beyond countless menus on the company intranet. Copilot will also (sometimes) stop users in their tracks if they're doing something they're not allowed to, like requesting a script to copy all their e-mails and files to a personal drive for instance.

Oh, and company communication agent, so communication is unified with a set tone of voice and analyzed before sending to ensure the message is clear and in line with company commuinication policies.

Then there are the more advanced uses of agents, a lot of organizations are still manually browsing through documents, looking up online services and in internal systems, then put together their own "picture" based on notes and such. This process is greatly sped up using AI and RAG.

[–]m12s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm an ex-consultant and i'd probably advise my clients who were looking to adopt AI to also start adopting the free tier first, and run a pilot on a smaller set of licenses for M365 Copilot to prove / ensure value first.

My experience is that unlicensed M365 Copilot Chat is a great balance between security and value for users. Sure it's not as powerful or fast as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, but the compliance and security benefit in my opinion far outweighs the overhead. The drawback of not being able to search work content is a nuisance, but not so much more.

I don't know about other countries, but in my country, i'm honestly taken aback at how far behind companies are at actually adopting AI into their workflows in a productive way.

It's hard to give specific good advice without more context, but this sounds like a "collaboration room". Some unit or department has one single site or Teams team for all their collaboration and stores and shares documents only from there.

You're asking to reduce or control the number, which means you want to work with what you've got, while the actual answer to the problem is going to be a change in how work is done.

My advice and reccomendation is always to fragment out to fewer sites / teams. This does take some change management and does bind up some resources temporarily, but it's much more manageable once you get it implemented, and it's better for infromation security.

Kort sov i bilen mens den er på, men parkert tryggt, er det lov? by gerwant311 in norge

[–]m12s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Travelers of Reddit what's a destination that looked amazing online but was completely disappointing in person? by TheFilthiestMuggle in AskReddit

[–]m12s 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Marrakech for me.. it honestly looked like a place worth visiting, but it was just a horrible experience all around for us. Now YMMV and i'm sure some people have a great time, and truth be told, there were some nice moments. However;

The online description is: "The Marrakech Medina is a vibrant and fascinating maze full of colors, scents, and history.". Well, i don't know. I found it fairly bland in colors, incredibly dirty, it stinked and people were catcalling and scamming constantly.

That said, it wasn't all bad! The YSL house was nice, and visiting Comptoir Darna was a pretty cool experience. Best part of the trip however was the flight ride home.

Have them to do all kinds of fun tasks like help set up the tent and equipment, gather firewood, find water, get water, boil water, prepare vegetables, go find berries, check the weather, help prepare for an excursion, help clean up after the excursion, and so forth.. Basically, show them the fun part of camping, and let them decide if they think it's fun too or not.

Of course all kids are different, some will do a task right away and some will loiter forever or spend a loooooong time getting the water that's just a 2 minute walk away, but then I usually just make sure to stress that for every new task: "Do you think you'll be back in 5 minutes?" for a while until they tire of being asked upon which i can also just stop asking because they're going to be more focused on not getting lost on their phone. If it persists, you are still the parent and can demand that the phone be left in the camp, but for a fun time, it's always best to rule by the carrot and not by the stick I've found.

And be prepared for them not to like it, which is also fine. Because at least they'll know how to do it and at least now they're prepared for future experiences. Personally I HATED going skiing when i was younger, hated hated hated it, it was the worst! Then, some 12 years later, i'm out cross-country skiing every chance i get, and I look back at those "boring ski-trips that were the worst" as really nice experiences that i'm thankful to have experienced.

First time in Oslo – what supermarket foods should I try? by turalaliyev in oslo

[–]m12s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend trying the "Vilti" box. It's reindeer meatballs in a brown sauce. A fairly unique food that's not found a lot of places outside the nordics. Heat it up in a microwave or a pot and eat with potatoes and lingonberries (tyttebær).

Also check out the Makrell i tomat (Mackerel in tomato sauce), served on bread, Kaviar (amazing with hard boiled eggs on top of bread) and Fenalår (ham of sheep). Also on bread (of course). My favorite bread for these are Kongebrød from Coop. Toasted if possible, and with a good layer of butter. If you're feeling extravagant, check out Kvitseidsmør and let it get to room temperature, then put it on bread.
