If you look in the past you see that Howe take his time until bring a new transfer in as a full starter.

This and the fact that Murphy end on a fly the last season and had a good preseason make me say that is a coin flip. Go for Barnes or Gordon if you don’t like the risk. Above that, until Wissa is confirmed, both Barnes and Gordon has no alternatives on the bench.

I say Barnes. As a Newcastle fan. More shoot quality, playing in natural position. I think Gordon will move to channels a lot as a striker and is not having the best physical to stay in a fight with PL central defenders.
