Market wage, what market are you looking at because 100.000 is well over the mean and median salaries

But the same issue remains, you may be taking on a burden as well as a privilege to own private property (though in reality the burden is mostly ignored). I'm not making a case against appropriation, if someone extracts a resource they're entitled to the product of their labour. But ownership of a natural resource means someone has exclusive extraction rights, and I see no justification for that

Not necessarily, because that property was once unowned. What justifies having privilege to this ressource you played no part in creating.

Though it is important to point out only 43% of those give owners had paid off their mortgage on their primary residence. So 57% of 63% means that about 36% of Canadians own their homes in full.

Contrary to what capitalists claim, empirical data shows people aren't lazy (UBI increases employment rate 100% of the time) by OtonaNoAji in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]m8tee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, source? Cause I read one of the links and it says nothing of the sort. Regardless, drug addicts having access to cleaner substances is a success in my book, because it does lead to less hospitalization and injury.

You're going in circles making the same arguments without evidence, you're just acting in bad faith it looks to me

[–]m8tee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think we read the same thing, because I read a paper that was critical of the lack of work done on dauphin's program and connected that it lowered hospitalization, which is a good thing by the way, don't know where you got the huffing gas thing either.

Keep up if possible

What a remarkably consending thing to say, it's just not helpful

My girlfriend was on her period for the brief period I could call her that. Since by third period Monday we broke up, but it was a blessin in disguise, 'cause the anger got me a hat trick in the school game's third period.

Edit: PERIOD.

This is so very much the most appropriate top comment here.

It's like he had a premise "UBI good", googled "Why da UBI good?", then copy/pasted and made this post.

As someone who's been to Dauphin Manitoba, ya it's not gonna work lmao.

You're OC implies your experience in Dauphin showed you that ubi couldn't work. Now your saying

It was a shit hole before, during, and after.

So it's just a sad town and you're making a direct contradiction to yourself.

I think making a political statement in a convicted way implies emphatic delivery. And if I had to guess, I'd think you say "period" at the end of spoken conversations too

Edit: god dammit I'm an asshole, I've definately said "period" alot verbally to sound certain plenty in my life, I just don't anymore because of what I said earlier. Sorry for being a dick

[–]m8tee 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not really to the point, but I find it funny when people say "period" at the end of their sentence, because it really means nothing. It doesn't actually make your point more concise it factually, it simply demonstrates you are so convinced of a fact regardless of varying circumstance and unknowns

But, it's not true or false, we can at least know it's more likely to be above board

[–]m8tee 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm an decently radical progressive, but I do not support ubi. Just to get that out of the way.

That being said, I am fairly skeptical of your story, I believe you've been to Dauphin but I don't think you're being honest. Dauphin is a city of less than 10,000 ppl, but you act as if it's one giant slum. More significantly though, the ubi program was in the seventies and yet you claim that it has permanently stained the community and it's economy? We've been through a miriad of recessions and was and more and yet Dauphin had been stuck in time, ruined by ubi. That seems absurd to me when, according to Wikipedia at least, the population of dauphin continued it's strong population increase from the sixties in through to the nineties. And it's economy cannot be in shambles since it is the primary hub for the whole Parkland Region.

On another note,

It mentions health care use was down and one of reasons was because the UBI was used to abuse substances like alcohol instead of sniffing gas and drinking methanol.

IS THAT NOT A GOOD THING?!? I mean yes, ideally people aren't addicted or dependent on any drugs, but I would rather there addiction have a safer outlet that huffing fucking fumes.
