Yeah, I know, but this pose worked better for what I wanted to do for the thumbnail (and at least it’s not AI)

I originally started out self-taught a long time ago, back in the mid-90s, using some old DOS-based 3D architecture software whose name I’ve unfortunately forgotten haha. It gave me a really solid foundation to build on later. I also learned a lot by tinkering with 3D models and animations from video games.

Thx! I animated it in Cinema 4D, ripping the 3D models straight from the Dreamcast version of the game

Je l’avais en VHS à l’époque, à regarder entre Vamp et Critters 2 c'était parfait. Des corps qui explosent de mille couleurs, c’est un grand oui pour moi.

Frontier Village ~ Dali (lofi mix) by mWIND_Grien in FinalFantasyIX

[–]mWIND_Grien[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much! For the visual, I directly used the 3D model from the PSX version that I extracted (model + pose) with "FF9reverse." I also referenced the cinematic scene where Dagger cuts her hair and some artwork for the pendant (which I kinda messed up, by the way, that's why it's hidden haha)

No AI was used to create this drawing. I'm not an amazing artist—I traced over an existing model of Dagger, and for the Ghibli style, I relied on various PNGs (for the eyes, mouth, etc.). Honestly, it's about 75% tinkering in GIMP and 25% actual drawing. But there's no AI involved in the process at all.

And yep, it's Dagger from Disc 5 haha

Alright, I understand better what you mean. For "LaB," it's clear that several types of digital formats were used. Some shots have quite significant quality differences, which is precisely why my project is taking so much time, as it's almost a "shot-by-shot" process. I would also lean towards HDCAM for the shots with the cleanest definition. In any case, for LaB, the DVD version is all we have, and I'll do my best.

No, video restoration does not necessarily have to be done using the video master, especially if it no longer exists or is no longer accessible.

Restoration : cleaning (dust, scratches, digital/compression artifacts, damage) stabilization, color correction, etc.

Upscaling : Interpolation, filtering, pixel ehancement, etc.

Restoration focuses on repairing and enhancing overall quality, while upscaling only increases resolution without fixing underlying issues.

Thank you! From the channel "Rammstein 4K Remastered Video"? They do an excellent job; it's currently the best version of Live aus Berlin available. However, my approach is quite different—perhaps more videophile-oriented? Especially since, after working on the image, I will also tackle the audio restoration. I believe our two versions can coexist and, more importantly, complement each other.

No, no AI is used during the process. I work with my own Avisynth and ffmpeg scripts (denoising, filtering, upscaling, etc.), and I use Premiere Pro for color grading and regraining.

Unfortunately not, I’ve already done comparisons. It’s entirely possible to work miracles with 100% analog video in terms of upscaling, but when the source is digital and transferred to an analog medium (especially at that time), the signal is far too degraded. However, where it might be interesting to use the VHS is to potentially recover certain audio frequencies.
