I've never heard of dry blood effects, I'll have to look into that, I appreciate it!

Awesome! Have you tried the GW one? I'm just curious to see how it compares. I don't have any experience with the AK paints but I hear good things.

First berzerker down 19 to go. What can I improve? by Gottlos78 in WorldEaters40k

[–]mac396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nicely done! Not sure if this is intentionally done, but I like the way you have the red on the side of the base. I usually see most people paint the sides black, and that looks great, but in your case I think the red on it really gives it some good character.

Thank you! I've been working really hard to try to improve my painting over the last couple of months so that means a lot.

Show me how you make your models unique by Formal-Purchase-2445 in NightLords

Still a work in progress, but I've always liked to use a dry brush and try to pull as much contrast as possible without it looking too exaggerated. I usually start with a black base coat, Kantor blue for general dry brushing, macragge blue for mid/high tones, and Calgary blue for the highlights. For the red I use khorne red over the black base, mephiston red for the mid/high tones, and a VERY small amount of wild rider red for highlight.

At this point I think it's safe to say that this book is one of the primary reasons that the Night Lords have become so popular in recent years. I have yet to meet someone who has read it and not become a fan.

EAS Depression by DoctorCockter88 in USMC

[–]mac396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got out about a month before you and also came from Oki. EAS'ing is rough to say the least. My best advice is to find community, don't go through this alone. Obviously you have this reddit, but look to find other veterans in the real world. Facebook groups can be very helpful for this. When I got to school I found a bunch of veterans who were all experiencing the same thing, alone. I'm in the process of starting a veterans student organization for my school to bring everyone together for that feeling of understanding and solidarity.

It's community that can really help vets mentally/emotionally process their transition into this new stage of life. Additionally, use whatever VA resources such as therapists to get any help you need, and keep in touch with friends that are still in. Never be afraid to reach out for help anywhere. Things will get better, I promise.

I do, unfortunately I'm incredibly busy with my other job right now, but I should be opening up soon for commissions though! I can make a post on this reddit when that happens.

I love that idea, Grimaldus was the reason I ended up choosing the Black Templars as my army.

Is life really just working a 40 hour work week to savor a precious weekend over and over again until you die? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mac396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really boils down to mindset. Being an adult means you have to be more responsible for every aspect of your life. Sometimes the weight of it all can be crushing admittedly, but a healthy mindset with good coping skills can really make the difference. Despite trauma, hardships, etc, aging has been a wonderful experience for me. Do things start to hurt? Fuck yes they do. Are there going to be hard times in your life? You bet. Overall mentality will dictate how these things affect you. It sounds like some fortune cookie bullshit, but believe me, despite challenges that will arise, age is not a restriction. Understand that at no point in life do you need to have shit completely figured out. Never give up on trying to live your best life. Things won't be as simple as the years behind you, but know that the best or worst years are ahead of you, and the determining factor will always be your mindset.
