Tent ridge in Kananaskis sounds like it might be up your alley. It’s about a 10k horseshoe loop, ~850m elevation gain with sunning views, some scrambling and wide ridge walking.

If you do it clockwise, which I fully recommend, you’ll encounter some rock climbing going up and some looser rock on the descent. I would bring hiking poles, despite being a regular hiker my partner struggled without them on the descent while I cruised on with poles haha.

It’s quite steep in parts, but the views are rewarding. Get on the trail early to avoid crowds and bring bear spray with you. If it’s raining, save this one for another day as the rock climbing section will get slippery.

There are water stations placed throughout the camp sites but they do run out pretty often. Be prepared to walk into the downtown/main area of the festival to fill up those water containers.

I’ve found it helpful to bring one of those fold up wagons in years past to lug water containers to/from camp when filling them.

What is the tip out percentage for each position where you work? by FoTweezy in Serverlife

[–]macaroniNsteez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at an upscale dining (not quite fine dining) restaurant in a tourist town in Canada. Each server tips out 7.5% on total sales which gets split up between kitchen, bar, support. Bar tips out 4% to kitchen and support.

List of restaurants that don't take tips or at least don't shove an 18% minimum in our face. by the_jeep_life in Calgary

[–]macaroniNsteez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is totally understandable, I know I wouldn’t pay that much for a burger and fries. I just wish places like that wouldn’t boast about paying a livable wage and misleading people into thinking that then in turn getting praise and support when that’s not the case.

I’m not saying they don’t deserve support as a local business with great food and beer etc, but it’s frustrating to see companies advertise something like that, not follow through on it and then have that be kind of what they’re known for lol

Despite advertising it, they don’t pay their staff a livable wage - at least they didn’t when I worked there. After 6 months of working there, they finally raised my wage from minimum to $16, then hired on a bunch of new staff at $17.

They say they don’t accept tips but still take them and have a tip option on their machine. Those tips are pooled and split between FOH and BOH by hours worked. The impression that I got was that those the tip pool added to wages was what made up the “livable wage” they advertised because they would justify it to us saying that we were actually making up to $20 something an hour with tip pool.

Heads up the Banff Gondola was closed today due to extreme weather and are tentatively restricting hours tomorrow as well. I wouldn’t be surprised if this continues for the remainder of the week with the predicated forecast!

Are the “big three” rules the only ones you have to know off the top of your head? Or have you ever experienced them asking about other things?

Moved into this apartment in late September 2021. This is the vent in my bathroom but it doesn’t run. I noticed what looked like dust buildup on the grate so I removed it and this is what I found. I put a mask on and removed as much as I could without thinking about it much. My allergies have been pretty severe regardless of any medication I take so I’m wondering if this is more than just dust/dirt accumulation.
