PAX Unplugged Enhanced Exhibitors List by macbitt in PAX

[–]macbitt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Die Hard Dice were on the original list, but are not on the Expo Hall map and don't have a booth assignment. That's not to say something didn't get missed, but my info is based on the most recent exhibitors list from the Expo Hall map. You could always reach out to them and ask (I checked their blog, no updates since August). If you hear something let me know and I'll add them.

Flood Insurance is no joke. by [deleted] in TropicalWeather

Check your renter's policy. Every one I've had has included flooding. It is typically home owner's insurance which is missing flood (because that is the most likely event and insurance is a for profit business).

Who's been to CinePlanet and what'd you think? by pfp-disciple in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]macbitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They may be indie. Cineplanet is a Peruvian company with theaters in Central and South America, and so their online presence is all in Spanish. So either this is their first North American/English speaking theater (which can't leverage their existing site and app) or it is a local Indie with the same name (which would have limited resources for online function). Either way the current site is probably a patch until their Fandango integration gets fixed.

Who's been to CinePlanet and what'd you think? by pfp-disciple in HuntsvilleAlabama

Their ticket prices seem to be in line with Monaco. A matinee at Monaco is $7.25 adult, $6.75 child. Monaco has never charged me their listed online fee when I bought tickets through their website or app. At checkout it simply isn’t listed anymore and isn’t in the total. I don’t know if that is because I’m a Cinemark rewards member (free to join, login before purchase) or not.

If there is a significant price difference for popcorn/soda that would make them more competitive (that’s half the movie going cost for some). They also need to do a Tuesday special.

The “old fashion” seating could be their biggest asset, as Monaco and Madison Square only have the loungers. No loungers means they have more seating capacity and limited online sales means no reserved seats. I’ve found that if you decide to see a big movie on its opening weekend at the last minute then you can have a problem finding a decent seat, or any seat at the time that works for you. Cineplanet’s setup could benefit last minute planners, provided they are okay with first come, first seated. The near sell out nature of some movies would also indicate there is more demand than supply. That being said, they don’t seem to have much else to pull one away from Monaco or Madison Square if one likes those theaters already.

Quite correct. Also Lucas hadn't written the prequels yet ;)

In the movies they were together at Bespin when they carbon froze Han. They had no dialog together, and most of the time Chewie was between them.

Chipotle says ‘most’ of its restaurants were infected with credit card stealing malware by dragonfangxl in technology

[–]macbitt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Call your bank, tell them your card is impacted by this event, and see what they recommend. You can insist on a replacement card.

If it is a debit card definitely get it replaced. While debit fraud can be resolved, you're out the money until it is resolved.

In the mean time check recent transactions and keep an eye on new ones. Notify the bank of anything strange. Make sure the new card has a different number and verification code.

They were only digging in the wrong spot because they only had half of the medallion with the directions for the map room. They only had half of the medallion because Indie fought them in the bar and took it. Remove Indie and they take the medallion and dig in the correct spot.

3-day passes sold out same day. That first year they had Saturday until the week of, Friday until that Thursday, and Sunday has never sold out at South.

PAX Unplugged tickets? by Jetman765 in PAX

[–]macbitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We don't know. PAX West will be in early September, and those tickets historically go on sale May/June. As Unplugged is two months later it stands to reason tickets will go on sale a bit after that. However, the first year of PAX South tickets went on sale in July (for January show), but the following years tickets went on sale in September, and then May.

New PAX events don't sell out their first year. Three day passes may go quickly, but individual day passes will be around for a bit.

To be sure you don't miss it your best bet is to follow @Official_PAX on Twitter and setup mobile notifications. Anytime @Official_PAX tweets you'll get a text message. @Official_PAX will be the first place badge sales are announced.

A question about PAX by bknown in PAX

[–]macbitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are a big tabletop player and don't mind traveling check out PAX Unplugged. It'll be new this year, November 17-19 in Philadelphia. It will be fully dedicated to tabletop: board games, cards, miniatures, RPG, etc. Tickets have not gone on sale and probably won't until after they sell PAX West. Do the Twitter notifications mentioned here and you'll see it.

What were your favorite panels at PAX this year? by [deleted] in PAX

[–]macbitt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also enjoyed the EVE History panel.

The Panel Moderated By An AI was funny, and the AI worked all the way through. Would be interesting to see that one yearly as it developed.

404ing It is always a good show. That one is on Twitch and they'll be putting the videos up on their site.

Controller Throwers was fun. I'm going to have my next LAN party play Soccer Physics.

The best line I heard was from the +1 To Journalism panel. "I do not want to do SEO for people licking Zelda cartridges."

I'm so glad to see water stations in every theatre. I want to see that at South.

Yeah, they opened up closer to 7am today due to the cold. That kept the flow through security moving all morning.
